@@Dani_Sith I know that trains are used in the US, but compare it to The Netherlands which is basically a state in Europe. We have trains going every 5 minutes on the busiest networks, I can get anywhere in the country with a train and possibly a short bus connection. The longest you wait here for the next train is 30 minutes, and that is on a trip to really small villages.

Yes, but they need to double track projects. Single tracking, though less expensive, is a shortsighted mistake.
@jeffreysnyder290 Жыл бұрын
@@mrxman581 I thought the only reason they didn’t add a second track was that they didn’t need it for initial operations. I thought all the pieces were in place to add a second track as soon as the projected growth would demand it.
@mrxman581 Жыл бұрын
@@jeffreysnyder290 I don't think that was the reason. It's cost. So they would rather sacrifice some level of efficiency for now until they start making money. I understand that, but in the interim the train can't run as fast. This video proves that because at one point the train had to wait for another train due to the single tracking. Yes, they might not need it now most of the time but it's also not a good look when the train is late due to some issue on that single track. No way to get around it which you would be able to avoid with a dual track system.

IF the train were to get in an 'accident' at one of the grade crossings, it would be stopped near the site for hours while the 'inspectors' investigated and ask nearly everyone on board "What did you hear or see?" Fantastic presentation, Brayden! Driving in Florida is agonizing. We are used to options and convenience in the U.S. and so having travel by rail take so long to construct is flustering to the mind. I used to live in Chicago and would take the train into the city along with my bike. Quality of life went up with alternative modes of transportation. I'm excited to try Brightline soon.

For comparison, installing suicide netting on the golden gate bridge was years behind schedule and way over budget. It cost almost as much to hang nets as it did to build the bridge itself. As a Brit, this was really interesting as I've looked at doing some cruises either from Fort Laud or Miami, so having an option from Orlando without having to rent a car does make this a good alternative for international travellers. though its kinda of weird seeing a train trip being explained in so much detail, since this isn't much different from the trains we have all the time. I kinda think to make the trains more safer, you need the crossings to either become bridges or have fences come down when the train is coming, safer for everyone that way

NOPE THANKS. China has built more miles of high‐speed rail than any other country with $800 billion debt. None of its lines are covering operating costs. (As a result, China is shifting to building more roads.) France’s rail has debts of $70+ billion and has been repeatedly bailed out by the government. SPAIN built its system with a public‐private partnership. It is $90 billion in debt. The state‐owned Japanese National Railways has a debt of $550 billion. (Japan also has Highest debt to GDP of 300%.) Railroads are an OLD 1700s technology that is obsoleted by faster, more flexible travel technologies. High-speed rail loses tons of money & is a bad investment.

I realize that building the entire line elevated would’ve been much more costly, but at-grade crossings have major drawbacks. There are people that make very poor choices in their driving judgment, people that are impatient, and sadly people that sometimes want to commit suicide. One thing I can say from using trains in other countries is, usually at first new lines make do with lower speeds and more at grade crossings. Always though, they trend towards raising their speeds and reducing grade-crossings over time. As long as brightline stays in operation, you'll see more and more of the grade crossings go away, and higher speeds across the route.

this is happening right now in India ! average speed in trains are coming down and competing with cars on highways (both are improving). @T-rexBreath Жыл бұрын
@dw1419 These are two completely different beasts. Don't forget that Brightline is receiving billions in federal funds and even more from tax-exempt bonds. Calif's system is a top-of-the-line high speed rail that will allow trains to go up to 220mph, as opposed to the top speed of 125mph in FL. I acknowledge Calif's immense financial mismanagement of the project, but they have a far larger scope and end-goal then what Brightline is aiming for (which is mostly sharing the track with already extant freight rail that were built by public funds)
@mrbloodmuffins Жыл бұрын
The private firm wants to get revenue flowing so they have to finish construction at some point. The public option loses all those popular construction jobs when it finishes so the incentive is to extend that step as long as possible.
