Hey, it's more expensive and slower, but now, there's even less to do! Seriously, why would ANYONE want to do this? hideously complex, expensive, and fewer and fewer functioning attractions. Good luck, Disney, won't be seeing you anytime soon.

Why make something simple to use, when you, with a little extra effort, can make it extremely complicated

Haha even if they required a college education to understand this stupid system, it'd somehow still be more enriching than majoring in a worthless major like "gender studies", "DEI non-sense" (official name), "_______ (insert irrelevant group) studies", and any other major created in the last 10 years.

Have no idea what you are talking about dude, the original fast pass was amazing...as was going to Disneyland back in the day. You could get 5 hours of free parking at Downtown Disney because most all the places there would validate you for free. I had a pass from 2003-2006 (first 3 years of college) and at the time, I would go on weekdays after work (I worked at Bbuy as Inventory Sup. during college and worked 5-1:30pm) with one of my best friends and ride 5 rides in 5-6 hours. We also didn't have smart phones because they didn't exist then, so there were no obnoxious people taking selfies or just staring at their phones while supposedly "hanging out" with their friends. It makes me scratch my head when I see people on their phones while out at places like parks, and they're just randomly scrolling through stupid shit. No wonder people born after the 80's have such issues with being able to keep their attention on one thing. I do not envy kids like you bro, not in the slightest haha. I don't have any friends that use or have ever used apps like Twitter or Tik-Tok...that shit is brainrot for sure. MySpace and Facebook were enough for me before quitting FB a decade ago and social media in general. Oh ya, also I forgot that they make you BOOK when you want to use YOUR PASS now. That right there is the biggest B.S. I've ever heard..you are not free to use your season pass when you feel like it, you must book early, and they can deny you because they have "too many passholders" that day. Talk about bad business. Oh ya, one other thing...having the best pass from 2003-2006 that had no blackout days cost $360 haha. Ya, I laugh at people who didn't get to go during that time..and as a full-on adult haha. Sucks for you kids...by 'kids', I mean anyone under 30, since the most worthless generation (as opposed to the greatest generation) has changed it based on their lack of actually being an adult until then. That's what happens when you don't move out in your early 20s, get a job at age 16, and "can't handle" working and going to school full time in college...like every other generation before yours. Well, maybe not the 2nd half of millennials, that can be just as bad as Z-Tards.

I’m having a horribly difficult time stomaching the ticket cost for my family of 6 plus mother and nephew, because I know on top of the $3700 just for park tickets (hotel, dining, and flights not included), I know I’ll also have to spend $$$$$ to get into reasonable lines and feel our ticket price was anywhere near worth it. It’s two weeks until our trip and I’ve never waited this long to pony up for tickets. It’s true, trying to sort out Lightning Lane, Virtual Queue and the cost of it all. It’s so horrible that should just switch to the splurge-purchase pass like Universal has. Lucky us, the new “book-in-advance” feature launches on our first planned park day, July 24, which means as we are rushing to Rope Drop at AK I will be rushing to book the Lightning Lanes for the entire rest of the trip. I guess it’s a good thing we only do 4 park days now instead of 6, due to ticket prices rising. And we switched to every-other-year.

They should scrap G + & leave the LL ( pay per ride ahead x 1 per attendance) as fast pass ultra - that’s it…..or scrap them all and watch guests return happy shopping/dining !

So, I HATE DIsney parks because of my own family trauma and I have no interest in going to FL, BUT this is the best, most researched and easily understandable video to explain what’s going on. Well worth the 30 mins to watch! Disney should recruit you for a management position, dude.

My cousin from Chile asked me to help him arrange things for his trip to Disney as I’m a 30+ year passholder. I started to explain a few things about the app and getting up at seven and then you have this option but… Finally, I said oh never mind I’ll just go with you. It’s just too complicated unless you’re a Disney pro😂 I have always used fast passes and occasionally purchase a lightning lane because after this many years, I just don’t want to stand in lines that are an hour and a half long. But like you said Braden, the reason they are so long is because we are buying fast passes so it’s kind of like a viscous Circle. At Universal and SeaWorld and Busch Gardens we did pay the hundred dollars or so for all day fast passes for my family of four. But that was because we knew we’d be there just one day and wanted to get it all in. That’s not the case with Disney. I would love the all day front of the line thing but for our usual five day stay that would add more than $1000. I guess the only answer is as you said, no fast passes at all. But even standing in line for 30 minutes is unappealing to someone who’s been there so many times.

Disney is just so greedy now!! I’ve been going to Disneyland for 50 years. My 4 children grew up with yearly pass holders. We went 3 to 4 times a year. We live 6 hours away. Fast passes were great. The last time I went was January of 2018. We upgraded to the pictures, I still think it was fast passes still. Now it so convoluted and expensive, I refuse to give them my money. Just to add, I was a single mom of 4 kids making maybe 70g a year. That’s working a lot of overtime. In 2018 my son was in the army so we bought the 3 day pass for 149$.

I have a trip coming up in two weeks. July 24 is our first park day and I can’t even get excited because of the cost and confusion of trying to get on rides. Park tickets cost SO MUCH and now we have to pay even more just to get on the headliners.

Between ride maintenance, or broke down at the moment, or weather, I still think that the reservation system seems too extreme. I go to Disney to get away from doing a bunch of planning and work just to get on a ride that's supposed to be fun.

All these extra lines to get on ride is bs. We bough tge three rides for 76 dollars ..you had to purchase deal before seeing anything and 1 half rides on list we wanted were closed We were able to go on one ride only. Get rid of extra lines and it will reduce stand buy line times....greed

Another name for "Spreadsheet Executive" is NEOLIBERAL Executives, which have been around since the 1970s. Ofc Disney has been neoliberal for a while, but this bit about having each ride generate their own income is exactly one of the tenets of neoliberalism (turning everything into a market; making everyone an entrepreneur).

Eliminating a lighting lane won’t erase the people in that line. They will still be queuing attractions throughout the day. Granted they will ride fewer rides total.

I relate so much with this guy. We both clearly love Disney but are so angry that the Disney I know and loved seems to have died and disappeared around 10 years ago. I love Disney world and used to go multiple times per year and always told everyone how Disney’s customer experience was unparalleled. Now I just feel overcharged and under delivered more and more with each trip.

As I listen to this new system and think about the other versions we’ve had over the years, I’m wondering if paper FPs wasn’t the best for everyone. You had to do some work to get those, and your planning horizon was just a few hours instead of the entire day or week up to two months in advance. Oh well. No going back now.

We’ve done six Disney trips with some form of FastPass - 4 with paper passes, one with FP+ at WDW and one with MaxPass at DLR. MaxPass was the best and totally worth its additional cost. FP+ was the worst for us - having to book rides at 6 am two months in advance was tedious and made it difficult to have any spontaneity. We did a one day stop at Epcot last year and used Genie+. We managed okay with it and appreciated that we weren’t starting in a hole by not having booked rides in advance. Our last real Disney trip was our 2019 trip to DLR. With prices and constant changes at Disney, inflation, and kids going to college, I think we’ll be living on our memories of past trips for some time.

Good overview of the history of line-skipping. However, in order to put a negative spin, you end up contradicting yourself. It's a contradiction to say this all should have been free while at the same time admitting that the stand-by line is artificially long due to line skippers. Then you endorse the splurge offering while still saying it should have been free. Sadly the common sense approach to draw more guests by making a better product is a bygone concept gen X has learned the hard way as our beloved companies have gone bankrupt in the modern cut-throat markets and gen Z's cancel culture.

Man what happened to the good old days?. You shouldn't have to plan what rides you want to ride 3 days out for a specific time and all before 7 am?, hell I'm still sleeping. I saw a lightning lane line, 40 minutes, standby lane 5-10 minutes., Uhhhhhh what?!. That's a no brainer I don't care for all this Genie, Fast pass, Lightning lane plus noise. I like my money, I'm going to keep doing it old school. I'm going to show up at the park, take my time, and use the standby lines. It's a better play, especially if you live in the area and have a Florida Residence Annual Pass, like I had back in 1995.
