I handled a 20" clown loach once in 1974 in Santa Monica Ca called "The Aquarium" I worked here it came from a wholesaler called Aquatic Gardens in san Fernando valley if I remember the location right, in a 60-gallon glass aquarium( i mention this because it was not distorted by Plexi ) again in the '90s in Culver City I saw 16" and 20" again in Apex aquarium. In this store, it was common to see larger fish for sale than in any other tropical fish business. they closed in 2020/21.

Hes a great looking fish. Lovely to see a big group too. I have seen two 10 inch ones before.....only once and could not believe my eyes but as you say that must take a very long time. They are a great, fun fish to keep.

Awesome!!!! I will contest from experience that clown loaches can kill one another!! I had a big one that went complete ape shit on my clown gang after feeding a bunch of shrimp he went phyco clown on all his homies I've never seen such aggressive behavior and head swipes with his Barb...I had multiple fish with puncture wounds and one loach dead I never saw that behavior again but they most definitely can are have the ability to kill each other usually aggression towards food almost exclusively actually but it is extremely rare however I have heard other people with almost same story and it's worth noting also that clown loaches have a pack leader he's usually the nastiest strongest most gangster loach of them all and they will follow his lead so just keep a eye out until the new hiararchy is reestablished....he's awesome though very big cool loach

In the 70s . There was a lot off really big clowns . That made that look small and after about 3 hours they started to drop the price of them. Because they all started to die . By 4o,clock most were dead . That was at Belle view aquarists show

I absolutely LOVE the clown loaches, too. This area I’m in So. California, USA, Huntington Beach and you can’t find them anywhere. I had two about five years old and one died in a conch shell and the other one died of a broken heart about two weeks later it wouldn’t eat or anything they are truly missed. Two years ago I got very young ones, five of them and they were about $7 each. I had to go out of town and had some One watching and feeding and they were over fed and in murky water dead 12 out of 13 total assorted fish. Glow fish, my clowns and mollies and ying yangs and one Molly lived. So im on a mission to find clown loaches again but now they are $36 each!!! I don’t like getting fishes thru the delivery so I’ll have to figure it out. The $36 each ones are the ONLY ones I found. Any idea why they’ve gone so high in price ?

I have same size tiger oscar but it is very aggressive. How those small clown loaches survive?
@MicksFishUk3 жыл бұрын
Keep them well feed and have massive wood in your tank for hiding places. Plenty of water changes
@sje1063 жыл бұрын
Big clowns can be very territorial towards each other. It’s very well known. Especially the males. Those mouths might be small but can do some serious damage.
@nsasimallik2 жыл бұрын
I thought clowns are shoaling fish and tend to live in groups. I don’t know much about larger clowns behaviour. I keep a group of 5 clowns semi juveniles. They behave like clowns and for most part stick to each other. They seldom get scared for no apparent reason and thrash the substrate. For some reason they are very active during early hours just before day breaks.

Why is my angel attacking my clown loach?
@SuperRedshark1 Жыл бұрын
Because it wants to dominate the tank as dominant fish get more food, grow bigger, are more attractive to the opposite sex and have the potential to have more offspring. Clown Loaches need others of their own kind as they are social fish. They need good hiding places to retreat to and feel safe, where predators cannot get to them (even when in aquariums without predators).
