Mickey is very humble about it all. "Corky" (Mickey) of 'Circus Boy'was my very first 'crush'! I would watch him with his own elephant, Bimbo - and his uncle, a clown on the black and white tube television before color. I was five years old! So when I was a young teen and the Monkees happend, I already had my favorite! Mickey's done well as a producer, also. Stay healthy please Micky Dolenz, we still need you IN the world.

The Monkees were also a caring group of loyal friends; they worked through many a sticky situation with good natured hijinks, a warm, often silly sense of humour and memorable songs. That's what came shinning through to me, even as a young child watching television in the sixties.

actually on a semi recent interview Mike stated that although they spent a lot of time together they were not all good buddies. He did not pal around with Peter much at all as they were more working partners thats about it, they even clashed a fair amount; but the other two were easier to work with.

Mickey's unique vocals were a huge part of the Monkees success. He deserves the same credit that any great vocalist gets.

My favorite Monkee back then was Davy. My sisters favorite was Micky. It just occurred to me my sister may have decided to study architecture because of Micky!

Micky is the Greatest! With his interest in physics, he should have been on Big Bang Theory...a recurring roll. Maybe Sir Dr. Brian May also...

It's an odd item that each Monkee in their own way over the years had to define what the Monkees were: individuals cast as a band of musicians that were unsuccessful at becoming a success. Well, the comparison is not to the Beatles, a real band, it's more to The Partridge Family, a fictitious band that couldn't perform live if they wanted to, save for David Cassidy. The interest in the made-for-tv bands is the songs. The public was not satisfied hearing the music on a weekly tv show. The songs became part of Top 40 radio. Then came enough songs for an album. Then came the natural progression of performing the music live and touring. It was about striking while the iron is hot. It was about making money. For the producers and players, it is show business. For the fan, it's loving a band, or a piece of music so much, it hurts and wanting that experience live.

I have NEVER heard anyone of the interviews or other shows about the Monkeys mention that all the members used their own names. Unlike other acting parts this assumed the members of 'The Monkeys' were truly these young men. IT is LIKE Breaking the 4th Wall with very different approach unlike other actors who have the special skill to do that. Such as Oliver Hardy from Laural and Hardy. Come to think of it they (Laural and Hardy) often used their real names in the movies they acted in..... so, maybe they are more alike than I think... anyway, no one mention that. ;)

I’ve heard Micky in interviews say something like “are you asking Michael Dolenz the director or Micky Dolenz The Monkees. Also in many cases I’ve heard the other Monkee’s call Davy David and his sisters call him David. It was a question I always wanted to ask him.

From afar (I am 69 now not 13,) but it doesn't surprise me that Micky is the last survivor in part because his experiences (family - other acting jobs) helped him be the MOST GROUNDED of the 4 personalities. .... He had a good time with being a Monkey, and I never sensed or read that he was either overwhelmed by the good or bad of being in the Monkeys. .... In a lot of ways it almost appears that he was the least affected by his experience. ..... Sadly I think the other guys (even Nesmith) came out of this slightly damaged by the are they for real or not status by FANS ultimately.

To me, the Monkees sounded more like the Dave Clark 5 than the Beatles. Except there were four of them. It was the drum sound.

Just because you like them does not make them good. Most people infected with bad taste never find this out. The Monkees were created to mimic the Beatles movie, A Hard Day's Night, zany rock and rollers jumping up and down and running away from packs of hungry teenage girls, not real music.

This is one of the biggest misconceptions. The Monkees DID make "real" music. Look into it.

Making music for teenage girls may have been the show creators' intention, but the guys took control of their sound and went beyond teen idols. For example, I don't think too many teen girls spent hours listening to "Writing Wrongs" or could relate to "A Man Without a Dream." And just because someone doesn't like an artist doesn't make the music bad.
