I was born six weeks after the final first-run episode, but I grew up watching them in the 70's and 80's when they aired in syndication and on MTV. Always loved their songs. I wanted to be a Monkee when I was a little girl and have their adventures. I was devastated when Davy died (10 years in Feb. 2022); then Peter, and now Mike (just before Christmas). Just watched their Christmas episode on Decades and my heart broke as they sang "Riu Chiu". RIP Mike 😭🎶🎸

@@Former_Pastor Not entirely. Nez created PopClips. It was originally on Nickelodeon. He sold the concept of PopClips in 1980 and it was developed into the Mtv Network. It was his idea of turning songs into video and having veejays introduce the songs. He did have financial backers including Norman Lear but the idea was Nez's.

A friend pointed out when I mentioned that when Mike died, there is going to be a huge gap in the greats like Nesmith. We had better be appreciating and cherishing the celebs we grew up with. Micky, who is the last of the Monkees, Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Elton John, Paul McCartney, Ringo, Neil Diamond, a myriad of those people who made our formative years as magical as they are. Even Prince, George Michael and Tom Petty, who died way before they should have. We aren't replacing those people because there just isn't anyone who is equal to them.
