Hey Rokkit. If you want more speed mount your outboard 2 inches or so higher. Will make a huge difference. It seems like your outboard is too deep in the water. Try a piece of timber on top of your transom or a small jack plate. The cavitation plate should sit completely level with the bottom of your hull. Done this with my rib twin outboards and gained 8 knots.

Heaps cheaper than buying cavitation plates and props. Don't know much about inflatables but motor height on the transom is fairly critical to performance and decreased cavitation. The old prop seems to already have signs of cavitation corrosion. All small boats have a Max/Min HP but it's very typical of boat owners to ignore it thinking bigger is better but actually it's not necessarily so.

Pretty fun tuning the boat. If you look at the video from behind, it looks like if you mess with the trim, you will be pushing less water with the motor. I have a Mercury 90 and I have to use a lot of trim to get the maximum speed. I just have someone watch the motor in the water and trim it until I am pushing the least water, seems to work as the ride is smoother and I go faster. Anyway, yeah, I bet a 10 would help but if you can, maybe try trimming the motor as well. Thanks again for sharing your time with us, still really enjoying your videos. Hey Rod, I've got the same true kit as you but mine has a long shaft Suzuki 2 stroke 15hp on it. I see some comments about lifting the motor but be careful about that because you risk lifting it so high that it doesn't initially pump water when you start it up. Even with my motor fully down on the transom I still have to be very careful to put my weight right at the back of the boat when starting up to get it pumping. I've been through a few impellers and have been lucky not to stuff my motor. Not sure if it's a true kit problem or a Suzuki one but something to be mindful of.

Yeah as others have said rod, way to much transom spray. You've got a great aid by having that camera at the back to see how low your foil is in the water. Definitely throwing away some speed with a heap of drag there. Fingers crossed a little lift might get the 11P to work for you.

All new vehicles from July 2007 were subject to much tougher accuracy standards that banned speedos from indicating a speed less than the vehicle’s true speed. They were instead allowed to only indicate either an accurate reading or one faster than the actual speed, and by no more than 10 per cent, plus 4km/h. That means at a true speed of 100khm/h, a car’s speedo must read 100km/h or no more than 114km/h.

I used to race very similar boats in SA. Something is not right with your setup, it's dragging at the rear evident by all the "dirty" water coming off your motor. I would try lifting the motor a bit, and also try trim the motor out a bit more.

Hey Rod, I believe the Trim/pitch of the motor is wrong? theres a bar that when down is rests against, smaller boat needs to go tighter to the transom, See if you have another set of holes and drop the bar to bottom holes , dont remove it, i think the reverse lock out locks to this bar. It looks right height according to the plate even to the bottom, then runs like half to a inch under..

I'd have tried raising the height and pitch of the motor before drilling 6 holes and hoping the hydroil dropped the nose quicker. Easier said than done on manual trim motors but you have to eliminate all other factors before opening up the corrosion factor. It made a big difference on my auto trim because you can manipulate it exactly. Not the case here unfortunatently and youll find the hydrofoil will drop your speed as well.
@pakde80022 жыл бұрын
That's pretty much the general consensus in the comments. First I'd like to know what the suggested maximum hp is for this little rib and hopefully the manufacturer has the optimum motor mount height worked out although I didn't notice any marking on the transom. There's no need for guess work on a production boat imo. My best friend from college was a real gung-ho kinda guy and his motto was never tell a dummy he's doing it wrong. Supposedly this was the path to innovation, but it's called trial and error for a reason and errors are expensive. Better to learn from the errors of others than trying to reinvent the wheel imo.

You give production manufacturers too much credit. If they had vehicles perfect when released to the public then there wouldn’t be recalls now would there?

I have the same OZ hydrofoil as you do and I find I can keep it on the plane at even 6 knots, granted my outboard is a 20hp 4 stroke Tohatsu if that makes any difference? But I would think mine is actually heavier. My prop is the original standard one afaik. I think you will find the OZ Foil will make all the difference.
