You're right Ed, some people are truely amazing - count yourself in that league! Built a new PC and downloaded Micro-Cap and noticed the updates too. Just for practice and the hell of it, I ran a simulation on a very familiar circuit I was about to build and discovered a diode in backwards! I already had the PCBs made and everything... That one thing saved me hours of faultfinding, so whoever is still issuing updates has my lasting gratitude and goes into the electronics hall of fame.

Thanks Ken - you are counted as one of the amazing! Thank you so much for sharing! It is actually one thing for someone to point and say 'hay look at that' and it is another for someone to say 'yes it see it'. Both are part of a group who are willing to put pen to paper and say what they think. Thank you for being part of this!!

I have been using ISIS Proteus from Labcenter and Multisim for some time. Heard about Micro cap some time ago, from your analysis, it seems micro cap is best for analog circuits. I verily admire designing audio amplifier circuits, will be glad to give it a try. Thank you
@KissAnalog4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your Feedback!! I too have the tools from Labcenter which I'll demonstrate on this channel soon;) I did like Multisim, but would get some really strange readings at times so I stopped using it. Microcap will do digital or mixed signal simulations too, but not the micro simulations that ISIS will do. That is a fantastic tool for just that reason alone;) I think Microcap will be a nice easy tool for you to learn and throw into your mix;)

Wow thanks for the update, I still don't understand why this isn't big news among the electronics community. The libraries and features extensive. Microcap blows ltspice into water
@KissAnalog4 жыл бұрын
I totally agree on all counts! One thing about LT is that you have to realize the only reason it exists is because LT does not want to share spice models of their devices. So, they came up with their own spice-like tool that shows pretty pictures of their parts. The models of their parts are simple and behavior based, so they just do what they are supposed to do. Best marketing gimmick that they every came up with. The tool itself is not bad - but isn't great either.

Thanks for your video man... I can sense your love for electronics! Your video is just fine! I used Mice-Cap III and IV back in the early 90's while at Valencia Community College in Orlando. It was fairly straight forward to use then and I look forward to using v12 even though I've been out of electronics since 2000, but I'm a hobbyist now. I'll keep watching your videos too!

I got the software from the last video you made about Micro Cap, it's just crazy that they just give it away for free... I definitely recommend anyone in this hobby or professionals even to at least take a look at the software and compare it with what you already know big chance you'll keep using this software. Thanks for the heads up! The program is really amazing and has nearly every component I have wanted to test! I think that after all these years of hard work, would it be tragic if it just ends up abandoned and forgotten. Eddie would you mind asking them what they think the programs future would be? If they maybe could end up releasing it as open source, so the community can keep it updated and develop it further?

Great feedback Fried Mule! I'll check with them to see what they say. For now, it is awesome and I'm sure it will be great for some years to come. Since we can keep adding parts to the library and sharing circuits. I think the power of the tool is there. I will get my website going so we can have a forum to share ideas and questions about this tool.

@@KissAnalog Fantastic idea about your website! :-) Yes MiroCap will keep being great for many years but imagine how it can develop if hundreds of skilled programmers begins to corporate on adding functionality. It would be fantastic if MicroCap got a PCB design tool in it, on the level of Eagle or something like that. :-)

Hahah Eddie don't sweat it, you can make a video with next week's lotto numbers and still get some thumbs down. I've learned to ignore it , if the ratio to thumbs up is huge then yeah something about the video didn't work for views . So far I enjoy your videos! So how about next week's lotto numbers? You know it would be cool if they had a forum for the software so users can share and learn from each other, I know I have tons of questions so far while playing with it. Or a Discord channel would be interesting too.

Hi Guys.., It's indeed very amazing software, I used it 10 years ago with a key. Now when I am retired I am using the Free version just for fun. Just one question, How can I use the HELP fuction in the toolbar to find a subject and automatically forwarded to the subject in the manual.? For now I open the .pdf manual and search for the subject. Do I maybe need to set a path in MC12 for linking to the manual? Who can give me the right answer to do? Thank you so much!!

@@KissAnalog Thanks for the reply. I've got something that works for a SPICE "card deck," but it's clumsy. I put in a .TRAN card along with an .OP card and then check the "Operating Point Only" box in the Transient Analysis setup. The .OP results are placed in a text file with the .TNO extension. What I was looking for was just a simple command to run a SPICE deck like the good ol' days.
