In consumer theory there was no difference in temporality although in reality there are intertemporal utility functions. In the theory of the producer, there is a difference between the short term and the long term; the analysis will vary according to the temporality.
In the short term we can note that at least one of the factors of production remains fixed. This factor is none other than capital (K). Indeed, it is easier to vary the labor factor (L) than the capital of a company.
In the long term, the two factors of production can vary, which opens the field to the analysis of an optimum of production where the firm will seek to maximize its production by substituting one factor for another.
