Glad to see you have fun with IR. 🙂 I have a full spectrum Lumix G95 and Nikon Z5. Live in a northern wet area but I love using IR for stormy weather year-round. The storms look stunning in IR. I learned over the years that IR should not be limited to just the summertime. Probably my favorite IR filter is the 780nm for very dark blue skies with the brilliant white foliage contrast. Since I use full spectrum, I get to play with the IR Chrome filter for the Aerochrome "look" without dealing with the white fringing that can occur with false color IR. Another fun filter is the Blue #47 which creates very blue skies and yellow foliage straight in camera. Another advantage with IR, cuts through the visible light haze.

Great vid Dave. Also good to see what is under the hat. Converted cameras always peek my interest. Nice and simple explanation. Can you please try a few portraits in IR or do they not work?

The hat is usually there to prevent the bald melon from either burning or freezing and I wear a hat so often I mostly forget to take it off indoors 😂 From what I’ve seen from the few shots I’ve taken of the kids, it has an extreme softening effect on skin, kinda like when someone goes over the top with skin retouching. As you saw from the short video clip is also makes eyes look kinda weird too. I expect it would make for an interesting project though. Thanks for watching 🖖

Rrr I thought it was the terrible video specs of the body u used. 70 something nicker for a whole new light wave! Fujifilm may be a fun system to shoot with but you can't beat micro 43rds for the abundance,cost and lens sizes. Keep up with ya content 'im loving it'

@@76steps Thanks a lot mate. M4/3 is one of those systems that I’m thankful many folks overlook. It means you can get incredibly capable cameras like the EM1 mk ii and amazing glass from both Olympus and Panasonic (not to mention the lumix Leica glass which is gorgeous), for very good prices. I’m practical when it comes to my gear for work use and m4/3 just works. Have a good one, mate🖖

Hi David could you tell me if you can compose the scene through the screen or the back of the camera using micro four thirds? I own a Nikon d90 full spectrum camera although it takes great pictures I cannot see what I’m taking 👍🏻
@DavidFlowerOfficial
@DavidFlowerOfficial 3 ай бұрын
Yes you can use either the rear screen or the evf to compose your image with this G5. One of the benefits of using a mirrorless system over a dslr is that even the much older models like the G1 offer live view and real time exposure preview etc 🖖

I’ve been tempted to get a converted mft camera for IR photos. Currently hunting on eBay. I did buy the Hoya R72 filter and used it for landscapes on a trip to Scotland. I think a converted camera would save a lot of time. £71?? Where did you manage to find that from?

I got mine from mpb. I looked on eBay on and off for a long time and mostly what I saw was a lot of Sony Nex cameras or point and shoots. I ideally wanted a m4/3 camera since I already have the lenses so when I saw this I snapped it up🖖

@@DavidFlowerOfficial thanks. I’ll have a look out on there too. I’m wanting mft as all my gear is already mft. G5 or even a gf6 would be ideal. Sounds like you grabbed a bargain on yours.

I love my average G5 ! Over the GX9 I sold. The G5 is a tiny dslr shaped, hidden gem. When released, It was ahead of it's time, with nice features. I use it with an IR72 filter...with mitigate results... Not really out of focus but not sharp. Still trying !

I love the size of the G5, it’s definitely more comfortable than the gx80. Thanks for watching 🖖
