This micro hydro turbine has been turned off during the winter. Its time to get the system clean and ready for summer. I clean the coanda screen and pull the penstock back up the hill. The power will be routed to the tiny house so that testing can be done.

I have just added a pipe on the 3/4" valve. 15gpm at 75psi. Should be great testing fun.

Many of the components are from Langstons Alternative Power. The pipe was from a local plumbing store. The midnite classic charge controller was from Amazon: amzn.to/3AmTnCZ

I like your setup. If it was my system I'd build a more durable weir at the intake out of formed concrete doweled into that large rock. I'd make an attempt to trench the penstock but I suppose you'd hit rock almost immediately. If you could get a larger diameter HDPE pipe and had 20 gpm in the winter it would probably avoid freezing. But I am guessing your run is at least 5 times your head so what is that 800 feet? That gets expensive. Where are you located?

A concrete weir would have been great. I was trying to do as little damage to the area as possible. If I were to remove the system all I would have to do is pull out 2 screws. The pipe is a 2" penstock and runs 1100 feet. It would be very costly to go as large as 3". I am in NC.
