Here it is! The installation of my daughter's micro locs. We got this done over the course of a few days. I split it up allot since she is 6 and wouldnt be able to sit for a long period of time :)

It looks good. My concern is breakage and treatment of hair afterwards. I’ve seen people with locs that turn into dreads and then they have to cut hair off and start over.

Thank you! There are allot of factors that can contribute to a situation like that. It’s important to keep your hydrated and let your hair be. For example, I retied her hair and haven’t touched it really since other than to hydrate it. Keep it simple the hair will flourish

@@ShardelHaden I’m learning this. I wear my natural hair curly everyday spritz with water and use oil for the ends to prevent breakage. After a few months of wearing it out, I put braids in for a couple of months and then go to a hair dresser on the 6th month get a good deep conditioning treatment, a trim and and style, and start the routine over again. My hair is just above bra strap length because I had to get 3 inches cut off- my ends were terrible. Other than that- leaving your hair alone is the best thing for growth for a BP hair. I enjoyed watching this little girl get her hair done. The style is beautiful. Great job. 😊

New subbie here!😃 Good job Mama. Love your work. You did awesome with timing too. About to go follow you on IG too because our journeys are so similar. I often think if I'd waited until my daughter was 6 it might have been easier for us both (the operative word being MIGHT 😆) On the other hand I hear so many people say they wish they'd gotten their locs earlier, so there is that. What I'm sure of though is that if I could go back in time I certainly wouldn't have given her the crazy loc count I did. 350-399 would have been perfect for her texture and density. Oh well, we live and we learn 😅 Oh I do have a question - was that mousse at the end? Have you had any issues with buildup using it? And also - have you experienced any unraveling/slippage using oil on her starter locs and if so how did you address it?

Thank you so much for your kind words! Lol I totally understand! The mousse was from just for me, their curl peace line. No build up at all so far. Yes we have definitely had some slippage around the edges. I’m thinking I’ll do an update video on her hair. We’ve had it in the front really which is where I expected it and her hair is ver fine there. I just retwist it and leave. I want to the hair to do what it’s going to do in its own time so I won’t be taking any extra steps to help them stay.

I really want to get microlocs with extensions. My hair is so fine and I figured they would be perfect since there is not a lot of tension on my hair like there is with regular braids and twists I’ve tried. Any suggestions for someone with very fine hair?

Hi! Your locs are going to grow the same way they would grow with traditional Locs. the way the hair is Loc’d doesn’t stop the hair from growing from the scalp.

Am going to do my daughters hair in locs because she doesn’t like me doing her hair, but I think micro locs will be to much just because of the touch ups will take to long and how stuck together these can become when they are messy if you know what I mean. Well she wanted them. She kept asking for them over and over again. After some time I sat down with her to discuss the responsibility of having a style like this. We watched videos and stuff. Once she seemed sure, I did it. And she loves it. I love not having to really do her hair often!

Yes... its human hair. the locing process is the hair tangling together.

I did my daughters hair over the course of a few days because she’s so young I know she can’t sit for a super long time. But I would say overall maybe nine hours. It’s very fluffy, even now that most of them a loc’d it has a lot of movement.
