Hi +readGodsword. You have replies turned off but I'll reply here since this may interest everybody. I am doing a pros and cons video soon so stay tuned for that, but in a nutshell the one real annoying con is the water heater. It is useless. I will not maintain a steady temperature for more than 10 seconds. I have to find out if I got a defective unit or what the deal is. On the other hand, it is light and short, super easy to tow. You don't need a hefty truck. And the floor plan makes it look larger than it actually is. Lots of storage. I love it, and yes, I would probably buy again.

Hi Jeff. There are a few differences between the 1706 and the 1801. Main one for me was weight. Also the 1801 is wider and a little taller, and it has a two-door refigerator and o believe a 5 gallon water heater. I did a review after one year. Watch it here. kzbin.info/www/bejne/gqLPeqWMlMqFidE My only complaint is still the on demand water heater in the 1706. It needs very high water pressure in order to work correctly. Hope you enjoy your Micro Minnie

Perhaps I missed it elsewhere, but wondering if you had any success with that water heater? We're interested in this trailer, but no hot water is a deal breaker. Thanks for your wonderful videos!
@TravelingRobert
@TravelingRobert 9 жыл бұрын
It is a shame they don't let you test those things when you buy the RV. According to the dealer and the manufacturer the water heater is working within factory specs. They even blamed it on the temperature of city water here in Florida. Apparently when you open the cold water to get a comfortable temperature, it causes that less water goes through the heater making it shut down. So to make a long story short, no, the heater doesn't work. It's either scorching hot water or cold water.

So because of you I opted to get the electric tongue jack, the same weight distribution system and anti sway bar. I'm sure we will be in areas where there is no electric hookup. Is there a manual override to jack it up and down manually? I'm going to do an inspection of mi mini this Saturday. I had added an added hitch for my bicycle rack and a fantastic fan the 19" Tv.

kswaiz The Micro Minnie weighs 2980lbs dry. I'm towing with a 2004 Kia Sorento capable of towing 3500lbs, which means I can't load the trailer too much, especially with water which has the most weight, but it is a good compromise.

+Mark Hubbs Thanks! My 2004 Kia Sorento has a 3.5 V6, and can tow 3500 lbs, so as you can see there not a whole lot of power to spare. I haven't had any problems driving under 65 on relatively flat terrain, and it has even handled well panic braking in a couple of near misses.

Hello Robert, could you answer a few questions? In this vid you are towing the 2 axle micro Minnie. Can you tell me what vehicle you using to tow with? Engine size? Have you towed over any steep grades. My wife and I really like the micro Minnie's but are trying to decide if our truck can tow easily. Thank you for your videos.
@TravelingRobert
@TravelingRobert 6 жыл бұрын
I tow with a 2004 Kia Sorento EX, rear wheel drive 3.5L V6. I have gone up some steep grades like Monteagle Mountain in Tennessee and from Phoenix to Flagstaff in Arizona, on those two occasions I had to slow down significant to avoid overheating. When Old Kia finally dies I plan to get a half ton truck. It would do the job more easily.

Robert, what model KIA are you towing the 1706FB with? We are looking at getting the same Winnebago and are wondering what kind of vehicle to get, tow-package or not(??), and how many cylinders. Should a vehicle have a tow package to haul the FB?
@TravelingRobert
@TravelingRobert 8 жыл бұрын
I have a 2004 Sorento V6 rear wheel drive which came with the tow hitch receiver. I got the brake controller and weight distribution sway control hitch which helps a lot. It has performed admirably so far. Only had trouble once climbing a long high grade between Chattanooga and Nashville, in which it overheated a bit.
@SuperBillstanley

Thank you! That helps a lot as we make our own decisions on vehicle and if the 1706FB is the RV for us. Did you also see my question on your "one-year later" review? ...the one about whether the later model Minnies (2016 and 2017) had fixed the water heater issue you had?

I'm looking at the same trailer. I have a light weight pickup with a 3500 lb tow rating. I am concerned that i will not have the power to pull the winne 1706FB. It has a 2980 Lb. Dry weight. How is your Kia Sorento hauling? Is it straining on any hills and are you able to tow it at 70 mph +? I'm also wondering how your Have you found a solution to the water heater issue? I hope you're still having a great time with this trailer!
@TravelingRobert
@TravelingRobert 9 жыл бұрын
Mahon Motley Hi. The Kia is barely adequate, but it does an admirable job in my opinion. I have an older V6 model. I have not had to climb any serious hills (I live in South Florida) so I don't know. I suppose it will manage. The most hills I have encountered are the rolling hills of the Florida panhandle and Georgia. I don't plan on crossing the Rockies any time soon... and about the speed, forget about driving at 70 mph for any extended period of time. You will go through a tank of gas in no time and you might overheat the engine. I have found my sweet spot to be between 60 and 65. On flat terrain you can even keep the overdrive off. About the water heater, I have finally decided to take a day off from work and take it to my closest dealer, which is 200 miles away and doesn't work on weekends. I will upload a video of that later. But I still love my little trailer after 9 months with it, especially now with the warm weather. I keep doing minor upgrades. See you on the road !

Hi Robert, I am looking to get the same trailer you got... So what do you think of the trailer so far ? Have you had any problems with it ? Love your posts. Scott
@TravelingRobert
@TravelingRobert 10 жыл бұрын
Hi Scott, so far so good. I've only had it for 3 weeks, and only used it for two trips so you could say that I haven't really broken it in. As I have it longer I have been able to start nitpicking and that is something I advise you do. Some of the fit and finish is not quite perfect. For example in one of the cabinets the laminate finish is raised a little bit, the caulking in the bathroom is a little sloppy, a screw was missing from one on the skylights, and the table is a little wobbly. Looks like they put it together in a hurry. Other than that pretty much everything works well, it is easy to pull, and for the size it feels bigger than it is inside, at least to me. Oh, another gripe, the water heater is crap. It is impossible to maintain a steady temperature, no matter how much I've tried. Let me know how it goes for you. Robert
