Micro Pavé Diamond Heart Studs

In this video the father and son duo, jeweller and diamond setters Kees and Niels van Dooren create Heart shaped diamond studs. They create these from scratch using modern technologies and high level diamond setting. Microscopical tiny diamonds of 1.1 mm each are set into the 14 kt yellow gold.
It all starts with a gold base plate which is heated up to release the tension. The metal is then further milled to achieve the required thickness. Afterwards a cutting edge laser engraver and cutter comes in to mark out and laser the desired design. Creating two identical heart shaped outlines. The next step is soldering the golden pens on to the studs. After which the elaborate diamond setting process can start.
The diamonds each weigh approximate 0.005 ct and are hold with shared prongs. By creating seats with a carbide round bur you can see the distance from another. Afterwards the walls are removed with a round carbide graver which was high gloss polished. These are polished with ceradent polishing wheels. Furthermore tiny prongs are created by removing excess metal with a flat graver into the seat. Then, gently the diamonds are put in place into the ,relatively soft, yellow gold. With a tiny prong pusher the golden prongs are bent over the diamonds thereby holding tightly two diamonds at the same time.

I'm still having trouble making my divider marks meet where I started out from. You addressed this issue in another of your videos; I don't remember which one. I guess I'll have to watch them all again. I've learned a great deal from watching your channel and I want to thank you for it.

In this particular design the diamonds are not girdle to girdle, but in an eternity band they are. Thats when the technique of marking the spaces comes in place. You just continue marking but with dashes instead of dots and slowly creep up to the closets dot.

I noticed your Jura micromotor, how do you like it? Do you have any experience with the NSK Evo? If you do, would you be able to tell me which has more torque?

Hi Timothy, I have experience with quite some devices. I must say that I strongly prefer the Jura device. Don;t know the exact details but I believe Jura's micromotor also includes the handpiece from NSK.

Видно, что vandoorenniels обучался у Юры. Именно Юра (JURA) придумал называть данную технику закрепки "микро паве". Как собственно разработал (усовершенствовал) данный метод закрепки. А также разработал и воплотил некоторый инструмент, которым пользуется автор канала.

@@artemdavinci да забей)) Сейчас уже когда говорят "закрепка в стиле микро паве", подразумевается юрин метод разметки и стиль закрепки. В данном случае камни располагаются в одну линию, только и всего. Но сам метод установки применяется для закрытия камнями неограниченной размерами плоскости изделия. В сегодняшнем видео от 3 марта 2021 автора канала как раз закрепка "паве" в классическом понимании.
