Follow-up video on NileBlue (my second channel): • Cleaning up my gold waste
A few months ago, one of my patrons sent me a bunch of old gold jewelry for me to refine. I originally thought that it was going to just be some gold plated stuff, but it turned out to be quite a bit of gold. I was able to purify out all of the gold and then melt them down into some small 24K pure gold bars.
Procedure references:
• Paint can idea: • Home Made Propane Furn...
• indeedItdoes: • How to Refine Gold Jew...
• CodysLab: / thecodyreeder (Both the main procedure and the silver recovery. I can't find the video where he recovered the silver from the chloride though.)

Didnt he send the gold back? Honestly, the rolex would add a maximum of 50$ in pure gold, and double the ammount as a whole. You’re kind of obligated to be honest in a situation like that. By any means, even if it were greed. That gold was worth less than $4,000. His video brought in more money than that. And not only that, if he were to scam them out of their gold, he would potentially lose all credibility and his channels would be finished. (They both make hundreds of thousands combined annually) If he were a poor man, and no one was watching him, and he could get away with it with no risk, that’s how you know it was done out of honesty. I’m not ripping on Nile btw, we don’t know him personally, I’m just saying that there can always be more depth and reasoning to someone’s actions and demeanour.

Correct me if I am wrong here, but that Rolex seems to be a $17,000 watch if it's real. I'm no watch expert so can someone help me understand what I am seeing here? I just can't see someone sending in a $17,000 watch to be scrapped for the gold content in it, which has to be minute at best. I'm sure I will feel stupid once someone explains it to me! Thanks and loved the video!

I'm not a watch expert myself but that did catch my attention as strange. I'm not going to look back and see what model of Rolex it is right now but at some point in time I'll try to remember to do so and if I do, I'll do some research and see what I can find out. remind me if I don't in a few days :) I love doing research on random things like this!

Isn't my area of knowledge per se, but its a datejust 36 16203 (80s). The magnification on cyclops looks all wrong which makes me think that it is either a counterfeit or that the crystal was replaced with an aftermarket sapphire / glass (perhaps it broke). Regardless, more of a $3.5-4K than a $17K watch.
@taranmcallister4330
@taranmcallister4330 Жыл бұрын
@@lukaszerecinski5376 my guess is that it was just replaced. I feel like if someone was trying to pass a counterfeit there’s no way they would use a crystal with such an ugly cyclops 😭 but idk. But also if it’s genuine shouldn’t the bezel be gold to match the dial since that should be the two tone model? Unless it’s some kind of weird Frankenstein watch lol
@OvenBak3d360
@OvenBak3d360 Жыл бұрын
@@taranmcallister4330 based on what I can see I’m pretty sure it is fake. The amount of magnification on the date is far less than any Rolex I have ever seen also, as you said, if you look up that model, the gold and silver version would have a slightly different color combination as well as I cannot seem to find one that is shiny chrome. They are all some kind of a brushed silver color.

As an Indian woman, while not rich, I've accumulated some gold (Indian marriages tend to involve jewellery), not to mention what my mother has. I don't wear jewellery. My mother doesn't enjoy it either. Too expensive to throw away, too awkward to sell, since I have no clue of the purity and such of many items. It sits forgotten in the cupboards as the orthodox "insurance" for a rainy day. This is the first time in my life I'm eyeing it with interest...

if you are often doing chemistry (has his own fume hood for example), the chemicals he had on hand would indeed have been common chemicals to have around. both nitric and hydrochloric acids are used in a LOT of chemical reactions. He would indeed have just had those on hand already. it's just like saying you're an auto mechanic, and so have things like complete socket and wrench sets already on hand, so no need to buy anything like specialized wrenches.

@@thomasneal9291 Well, yeah. Its pretty common knowledge especially when most of us took General Chemistry in High school where those are used a lot. It's just that the bland tone he uses and the pause used adds some unexpectedness with a comedic tone when he said he was going to use ACID. Because when people think acid, they think Hydrochloric (that dangerous shit)

I just watched your video you’re video is great and direct and informative you must of been a great student I have been reading and watching videos about chemistry since my school wouldn’t let us work with chemicals due to liability issues it was unfortunate because the school had hundreds of thousand of dollars of lab equipment donated I just believe the teacher had no experience in chemistry and was just there for a check it’s unfortunate but videos like this give people great insight on chemistry and have a positive influence I hope you keep up the great work and thanks for the inspiration

For anyone watching this on or near 1/08/2023 (August) The money the fan would have been able to get had they sold it straight away upon returning it. Based on average the spot price around April 2019 for 81.31g or 52.29 dwt and factoring in a standard fee for retail sale they would have got about $3202. If they sold it today using the same calculation it would have got them $4869, both prices in USD.
