I bought one of these little guys so I can just pop a couple pencils and my 3.5x5.5" Handbook sketchbook into a pocket and be ready for just about anything, even if I was wearing a fancy cocktail dress and could only carry a little purse! I looked you up because I couldn't figure out how to get the dang pans out! Thanks for showing me how! Now I'm ready for any professional artist meet and greet dinner!

I'm really excited for this palette, I wasn't a big fan of the normal portable painter and this one seems to fit my needs better!

Agree. While I love the basic premise of the original portable painter, especially the two water buckets, its inability to take full pans and the small wells (only big enough for W&N half pans or the ones Steve supplies) make it inflexible and limiting so I've never invested in one. I'm looking forward to trying the MICRO version.

Nice little item, well thought through. I had some reservations about the original portable painter, but this reminds me more of Barry Herniman's Cloverleaf palette, scaled down to be truly pocket-sized and minimal. Good work: deserves to be successful.

This is an amazing size! I could easily see the little clip on the back being added to a keychain! I have koa wood pen on mine at all times, so this would be a fine addition! Thank you for reviewing This! 😊

I have had one of these palettes for a few months- Using it to sketch outdoors. - this has been invaluable best purchase I have made for a long time - I use mine with water brushes - using the larger well for washes . Definitely recommend this product.

What a cute palette, Theo, and placing 6 small pans is enough just need to choose a good color mix. And you chose only 4 !! I liked the place for water, good space. I loved the way you attached the palette to the sketchbook, and the best of all is to see you watercoloring, always learning from you, thank you.

I ordered three of these during the initial funding campaign, but I haven't used them other than to get a sense of how to handle them. I think the utility of the holding ring comes if you hold the palette in the palm of your hand such that the center zone is resting there with the ring between fingers to increase stability in your hand. In any case, I really love the compact nature of it, great for hiking when you might want to make quick, simple, sketches with minimal fuss and very light load. I'm in the camp likely to use water brushes, so the deeper well would add additional mixing options for me. Like the original, this is just really well engineered.

I've seen this micro palette reviewed, maybe Lindsay did it; but, it is really small. I would need to bring along extra water. When I am painting at home, I use a glass jar, actually two glass jars. One jar is for rinsing the brush and the other jar is for clean water. Once the clean water gets cloudy, then I change the water in both jars.

I am excited to see this palette in person. It makes a good alternative to using an altoid tin because of the extra mixing surfaces and water holder. I wish there was more information on the palette on their site like release date and price point.

Teoh, if you use the Mr. clean magic scrubber sponge and rub it with warm water into any new palette, it will help will paint beading up🙌

Usually I see something new and I see many flaws that kill the idea but this one looks good. I do wonder why they chose a tree shape over a ring on the bottom but i’m not a big ring user anyway so it doesn’t lose points there for me. Very cute.

wow. so smol. yet very very well thought out. i think i saw on another palette a 'click down' mechanism to join their palette to the mixing part but my worry was that it'd flip flap all over the place when you placed it down. but this one seems just as well designed as the original portable palette

i am thinking of getting one of these. I think you could clip the little flip-tab to the book and then all trays will be above your pages. Also I think the little flipper is so you can put it between your fingers, not have to hold it like a handle. Just my thoughts.
