I have a 2018 500 and when I reinstalled the fuel lines onto the tank rear opening, I stripped 2 of those 4 self tappers with very little effort. I think it only requires 2Nm torque, which my bicycle torque wrench barely measures. Unlike the IMS tank, the Acerbis tank relies on the screw gripping the tank plastic. I repaired the problem by cutting thin strips of cable tie and gluing them in the hole with appropriate glue. Barely hand tight is enough.

How many times have I cussed the "engineers" who designed all the various sizes of bolts/nuts..... lol, the earliest was in a 1970 Pontiac Firebird where the starter went bad & all 3 of the electrical & mounting screws/bolts are different sizes. That's something that can drive ya mad but thanks for this. I don't own this brand but I now know to consider it in all applications. peace

I feel you. I once had a 1974 Land Rover SIII that, at some point had been frame-swapped to a nice, zink-dipped frame. The problem was that when the garage that made the swap put the car together again, they essentially had a big box of fasteners and just picked nuts and bolts at random. Meaning that out of 4 bolts, one would be metric, two imperial and the last one a bloody Withworth.

These OEMs need to do better. For the price, there should be none of this screws-into-plastic crap. Threaded inserts exist, and work much better. But god forbid Husqy/KTM spend another 10¢ to produce a $14k bike. 🙄
