Micro Wii | DiY miniature Nintendo Wii console

I've made Micro Wii.
It's basically heavily modified Nintendo Wii inside 3D printed case.
I've designed all of the 3D files myself from scratch.

your case vent is both intake and outtake for airflow? thats bad, its just recirculating the same air inside case. Did you notice how the Wii originally had the fan at the back of the case as an out for airflow, also an intake at the bottom of the wii. your design has bad airflow with zero static pressure, which recirculates the same air for poor cooling. Also the Wii sensor bar needs a gap in between both sensors to function correctly. Your sensors are literally right next to each other, limiting your full range of motion to an even smaller length. If your just going to use this for gamecube games thats fine i guess... but you wont be able to play games correctly using a wiimote.

This is amazing, and it's a lot smaller overall because of your trim. I left the AV port attached to my board so I didn't have to rewire it. I also like how your sensor bar mount pays homage to the aesthetic of the original Wii console. I let my front face be the space for all four Gamecube ports and use a wireless sensor bar. I isolated my fan and heatsink in their own cavity in the case. If I may make a suggestion, I would use a small piece of foam with a hole in it under your fan, fold it over on the sides and press fit it in between the fins of your heatsink. The rubber band may pop over time.

You did a really good job. to make it smaller you would just need a thinner plastic mabye and cut diwn the heatsink even more and put a even smaller fan and power button. For what you did, it looks awesome. Great work bro.

If you're only using composite, I would recommend using a 3.5mm audio/video port instead of the entire Wii AV port

If you'tr harvesting the whole AV port from a Wii why not wire it up for Component?

You could use a totally external wireless sensor bar but your solution is more compact.

You could convert it to external drive. You would simply connect it to the console and then disconnect it when you don't need it. If I remember correctly, it's only one cable

I wanna do something similar but remove the dvd drive and homebrew it so I have space for all 4 GameCube controller ports as well as the memory cards, I like the idea of putting the sensor bar inside the console but with how close they are I'd rather stick with a third party wireless one

Is it possible to deliver power over something very common like USB C? I am interested in getting rid of the bulky power adapter but like my Wiis original shell so a full trim is way overkill.

Yeah it’s possible since there are already custom regulators installed. USB C has more than enough power.

how about I am also making a small wii, but this is identical to the original in case design, I have a doubt how I could adapt its power cable to usb type c since I have two nintendo switch chargers and I would like to feed it through that medium, thanks in advance for your work

It’s actually pretty easy to do since you would need a USB-C breakout board which you then would connect to the custom voltage regulators (PTH08080) this way you will convert the USB-C 12v to the voltage required by Wii

It might be similar in size since we use similar trimms but I'm not sure since I've never built it. I have to buy new wii console to modify since the old one died but I'm definetly going to build something new in future !

Hi, I love you're video's but why did you go threw all the pain of building this micro Wii from scratch even though the noldendo Wii micro (from nold) already exists and the build is really smooth and the end result is really good in my opinion( I've build one myself)? If you make it smaller it will definitely make sens but I will have to wait for the next video on the topic!!

I love making my own stuff. I don’t really like building stuff that someone else designed. I’ve also noticed that Noldendo Wii uses 6-layer motherboard and my project uses the 4-layer one.
