Shockingly, there is actually a provision in the USGA Equipment Rules specifying about microchips and other tracking equipment inside of a golf ball. It's allowed. My worry would be total weight, but the chip itself? No problem.

We've all wished we had technology like this many times and it's only a matter of time before it gets better. Kudos to BBall for being the first to actually produce it. In winter conditions i have lost balls in the middle of the fairway. My buddies and i call these kinda' shots the 'tiger woods rule' cause if we were on tour 5,000 people would be pointing at our ball no matter where it lands. Because of this, fairway shots and just off the fairway shots that are obviously visible from the tee are considered a drop shot with no penalty.

Compression of the ball is the problem. They would be adding electronics into the molding of the core. Once you compress it when hitting a shot. You would smash the electronics inside

Fr man, newer companies like this need to realize standard white is the best route. I bought Vice’s golden golf balls when they first came out just for the hell of it when I had a scramble tournament to play in. Those things are near impossible to find if you don’t hit it in the fairway.

@@jpstpeter5516 I had a buddy give me a sleeve of the gold Vice balls and I'd never take them to the course. They're perfect for the simulator or putting green though! I'm almost done developing my own ball tracking system. Finishing up rooting and diag for different platforms. It measures impact, speed, distance, angle and depth. Best part is, use any ball you want. This is modification of club innards and club face rear post. Excited! Been 5 yrs in making. Lotta programming and material testing to ensure the top quality feel along with manufacturing cost for any company to use. If all works out ill send you two of the testing clubs. Driver and 7. I modified Titleist ap2s and can play at night with them.

My local course was built on a swamp. New owners don’t but $ back into it. Needless to say it’s wet. I was even par playing 9, crushed my drive on dog leg down left side of fairway, never found the ball. Plugged somewhere in the fairway. My league has a loose rule if everyone agrees to where it is u can drop if it should have been found. I dropped roughly where I thought it should be, made “par.” Subconsciously I think I tried to miss the “birdie” because of the lost ball. It sucks it happened, if there was a camera or spotter it would have been found, now I feel ripped on my nice round because of this. It would be great for amateurs for stuff like this. Pros never lose balls no matter where they r. Crowds, spotters, Marshall’s and cameras always know where the ball is.

I have one. I didn't have it a month ago when the early reviews questioned the accuracy. But I have it now after several firmware updates. It's scarily accurate for such a cheap device. I put it head to head with a trackman and it spit out the same results about 95% of the time. One thing though, you HAVE to set it up properly for it to work. If it is off by a degree, you are going to get funky numbers so get out a measuring tape or a laser pointer.

Mr. Rick Shiels, I’ve finally subscribed but I’ve been watching your videos for years. I hate social media but your videos are excellent! You have an amazing draw to your swing. That’s a beautiful ball flight! I’ve been trying to get rid of my fade after futilely mimicking Fred Couples swings in ‘93 and I’m now 44. I just want to say keep up the good work. I ordered some 770 irons in June and TM told me they wouldn’t be ready till Dec. No big deal, I can wait. I still smoke my Titleist DCI’s from ‘93. I’ve had these clubs for 30 years but I hope the 770’s make a huge difference. My woods have always been hand-me-downs from my big brothers. I hope these new irons can prove to me technology has changed and maybe I’ll invest in new woods. Keep up the great work and best wishes!

If you had a satellite tracked ball like some of these course apps with the phone, then you’d be Able to track it 3 holes over. but my guess it’s made so you can find it when you know the approximate direction or landing zone it’s hit to. I have another golf ball in mind for you to review and compare to the ProV1. They are claiming that not only it's as good as a ProV1, but possibly could outperform the ProV1. It's the OnCore VERO X1. I would love to see you review and compare them head-to-head!

Not sure the big companies want this type of thing. They sell a lot of golf balls to us that we only hit once and they benefit from that. Great video.

Rick, very entertaining video. Love it when you do this weird stuff. But for 30 pounds per ball (about CDN$50/ball for me in Ontario) I'll just get another dozen Srixons or Bridgestones. Was hoping to see if this ball can swim back to shore. Oh yes and they sound brutal. Keep the offbeat stuff coming. Cheers.

Nice video I have an idea for a video take a cheap golf ball for begginers like a distance ball surlyn cover very little spin and have a pro golfer play it and see results with driver and chip or approach shots.

It's a good start to getting this tech going. When I look for my ball, I already know it's in range I just can't see it and it ends up counting as a stroke.

Great review Rick! 👏 The tech has a ways to go. Tldr: theoretical blahblahblah The range problem has to be addressed first. Theoretically, if the course wanted to spend enough money they could put bluetooth signal extenders into the course spaced ever so perfect to give whole course coverage. They could then tie this into their on-board cart systems or offer a course app. Idk if it is possible to double the extenders to perform some form of triangulation? But that would help accuracy in finding the ball, probably to the foot. The big names would have to re-engineer it to actually perform like a grade A golf ball should though. That sounded awful.

I’m sure the technology will improve with these ( better cover, softer feel, better connectivity, and so on. 🤞🏽 When it says “in range” it should have an arrow pointing, like a compass.

Good video Rick. You talked about a major ball manufacturer using it. I don't see this happening because if it works they will selll far fewer golf balls due to not very many being lost what do you think? Simon in Oxford.

Rick - I appreciate your candid on point assessment. I like the concept, somewhat similar to TopGolf but like the BBall even those are subpar. It’s promising though, hopefully in our life time we’ll see it actually work. In the mean time, I’ll keep buying golf balls & the manufacturer keeps making $! Why would they make balls you can’t loose? There’s no percentage in that is there?

I only play a few times a year, and I'm a higher handicap golfer ~25. I lose balls regularly in the woods and sometimes in the water. I've often thought this would be a cool concept. But, unless it floats and was able to be retrieved from the middle of a large water hazard, I'll still lose it. Also, bluetooth devices typically need to be recharged. How is that accomplished with this ball? As Rick says, it seems like a good start, and if a larger company could refine it, I might be interested some day. And maybe if I wear a wetsuit on the course, I could keep retrieving the ball!

Its a great thing off the tee and maybe a 2nd shot with a fairway wood or hybrid. As amateurs and recreational golfers, theres nothing wrong replacing the ball with a normal ball to play after a tee shot. It'll help slicers and ducks alike especially if you hit your ball to a driving range. Don't hit with irons and maybe dont use for putting. But it's a good thing
