Hi, thanks for posting this. I directed it back in 1997 or 1998. It was part of a series of mini-docs called 'Lost Albums' that appeared in a longer show I worked on called '@last tv', which played on RTE in Ireland. The artists were interviewed by Tom Dunne, singer in Irish band 'Something Happens!' and now a radio DJ. Microdisney are re-forming to perform 'The Clock Comes Down the Stairs' in full in Dublin's National Concert Hall next year. Now all I need is a ticket - surely this video should earn me one...

That little doc brought it all back…. Hearing them on Peel’s show, recording their magnificent sessions on cassette, buying the first album, searching out their gigs in the south east, going to the gigs with the rest of the skatebparder crew, playing that album and tapes to death, meeting them pre gig and ordering them a pint over a chat, feeling frustration at why the hell they wouldn’t ”lift”, being proud and happy to have gone to so many of their wonderful gigs, sorrow at the split from my mates in England and getting out of the loop after my move to Sweden and to cap it all - hearing of Cathal’s demise. I still play their music nearly every day. Long live Microdisney!

Microdisney kicked The Smiths into the dirt. Truly subversive, not just to be controversial. Immense melodies, Cathal's fantastic voice, Sean's guitar chops. They didn't play the game and suffered for it but the reward was staying true to their art, Cathal did that right to the end.

Nice one. I was so happy to see they'd got back together and I just can't wait to see the band again at the Barbican, 30 years since I last saw them!

How come such highly accomplished musicians/artists be so humble? That's talent right there. Coughlan's voice is on par with Scott Walker - for its tone, at least - and O'Hagan's guitar playing and creativity is there with Marr. The lyrics are honest, captivating, and witty. Beats me.

huge amount of honesty there .. Best Irish band never to make it

Wasn't Rob McKahey from Stump in the band at one stage? And maybe Mick Lynch too?
