The LFO is bipolar, so when you were showing the LFO controlling the inversions you had a plateau at the bottom of the cycle where the LFO went below zero on the knob. If you want a smooth transition all the way through, set the amount of the LFO in the matrix to the same number as your initial Timber knob. That way the bottom of the LFO brings you to exactly zero and you start climbing back up again immediately. Just a tip if anyone besides me found the plateau disconcerting.

A 6/9 chord refers to the 6th (replacing the Major 7th) and 9th scale degree. In the key of C it would be the notes : C-E-G-A-D.

Can you play chords normally or does "paraphony" mean you can't? As in, can I play chords by sending it MIDI? I'm confused.
@FreeBeat Жыл бұрын
You can! This chord oscillator is a completely different part of the machine. You can play up to 4 notes at once as long as the parphony button is lit up. Paraphonic just means that all of those notes share the same filter and envelope :)

Just picked up a 2H MF and looking forward to exploring whilst holding your hand! I’ve noticed the white ARP & LFO pots on my unit are a slightly discoloured and that yours appear to be as well. Is this just a ‘thing’ with Arturia pots (first bit of Arturia gear)? Great vids by the way 👏👍

The "69" chord is actually 6/9. As an example, a C6/9 would be C E G A D, but often the G is omitted.

In the 1970s, the "69 chord" was a maj7. Now it's a bunch of m9 in a neo-soul progression.

@@GizzyDillespee maj7 and 6/9 are completely different chords -- unless you're meaning in the "orange is the new black" way. ;)

I love that it fades through the inversions rather than just stepping. Using that in poly mode with the chord set to octaves sounds great.
@FreeBeat2 жыл бұрын
Yeah I really like that too, it's surprisingly smooth!
@MWGallaher2 жыл бұрын
Paraphonic mode is useful when you are set to Octave chord type. Since the waveforms (SHAPE parameter) for this oscillator include some organ waves, this is one of the best oscillators for making an easy organ patch.

can you activate the arpegiator in combination with the chord osc? I wonder if that would let you play sick arpeg chords going up and down the chords...

I would think one could make some cool chord progressions using the step sequence function, like a C, Am, Dm7, G etc. Changing chord types as you go.😃🎵🎵🎶🎶

Very good. According to you how does this compare to the Model Cycles?
@FreeBeat2 жыл бұрын
I think they're only similar in that you control the chord shape and the inversion as parameters. On the Cycles, you have very limited control over the actual sound, but you have the incredibly powerful sequencer to aid your music. On the Microfreak, it's more about the control you have over the sound. The digital patch bay basically gives you endless ways to change it. Thanks for watching!

Here’s what I don’t get about this feature: how often do you use only major or only minor in a melody? It’s always a combo so this seems limiting in that you can’t play a melody with both major and minor chords in it, right? Am I missing something?
