MicroJig Splitter Steelpro Installation for Unisaw Zero Clearance Insert

Installing the @MicroJig #MJSplitters. The instructions require verification that the zero clearance insert is absolutely flush with the table, and the fence and blade are absolutely parallel to the miter slot. So I took the opportunity to verify my #tablesaw setup. Unfortunately I found that I had somehow knocked my fence out of alignment, at some point in the past. Thank goodness for the Una-Gauge! My blade was still right on; but that fence alignment most likely contributed to the kickback I experienced that lead to all of these safety upgrades. Make sure your fence is aligned properly. Every single aspect of the table saw alignment and setup, as well as the push block type, blade guard, if present or able to use it for specific cuts, and having a splitter or riving knife, all contribute towards your safety, or your potential for a kickback or other accident. Please be as safe as possible!
I realize I did not complete the installation for the standard MJ Splitter. I will complete that in an upcoming video, as I get the chance. With these two completed, I need to complete some other projects first. Please like, subscribe, Ring the bell, and share! :D

Nice tutorial. You may want to double think running crosscuts like that... with the fence being used. Good combo for a nasty kickback. I'd personally never use a miter gauge with the work piece up against the fence like that, especially lacking a riving knife or splitters in place. Stay safe and thanks.

I agree. I didn't realize I had done it in this manner, until your comment. I know the best way is to have an offset block, to set the length, then move through the cut. Thank you for the reminder! I shall try to keep that in mind, whenever planning future cuts. The entire reason for installing the MicroJig, was to help prevent kickbacks. And here I was tempting fate while trying to correct the issues I already had! Uggh

Thank you so much! The alignment gage is awesome, you will love it! It takes a little thought sometimes, when setting it up for a different machine, but it is extremely versatile. I even used it to assign the delta sliding table attachment for the unisaw. Cheers 👍🖖🤠

Checking the adjustment of the table saw is part of the installation instructions of the microjig. I had just adjusted everything about a month ago. However, using the tablesaw as my assembly table evidently allowed me to knock the fence out of adjustment.

@@pantasauruswreaks8667 2 grr-rrippers come in one set. Two hands, one grr-rripper per hand. Not sure where you are seeing the third gripper. Better safe with two grr-rrippers, than without your second hand.
