Yea girl, experience is the best teacher, I too am a DIY'er micro loc and learned a hard lesson, braid and band when washing 😉

@NICOLE POLITE I'm still braiding and banding after 9 months, I honestly don't mind

I still kinda need to see the bunching fix better and explained a little more. I'm only in a month but good tips.
@Afrodite96 Жыл бұрын
Another tip I can give that wasn’t mentioned in the video, is you can palm roll the parts where bunching occurs. At first take a pin or rat tail comb and ‘almost’ pull on the parts of the loc that are bunching like your trying to take out the loc and then aggressively palm roll that area. It may cause some damage if done too harshly but it can work! Maybe I’ll make another video on that technique.

Don’t give up on the journey. Another option is to intercrochet the chunky ones and make them thinner

Are you happy with the results from stopping the braiding and banding?
@Afrodite96 Жыл бұрын
Are my locs absolutely perfect, no. But my choice to stop was due to me wanting to maintain the health of my hair(postpartum shedding- B&B caused too much tension and was creating bald spots). So at first I was really sad that I lost a lot of length due to shrinkage and bunching but overall I think my decision was best for me. Now that my hair is growing longer my locs are maintaining their skinny shape and as I get to my desired length I may eventually cut off any fat parts, since they’re towards the ends of my hair.
@GizelleQuant Жыл бұрын
@@Afrodite96 that’s all that matters. You’re happy and your locs are still growing.

The tension? But your braiding for banding is meant to be loose. It's mostly for the ends to not loosen while wet or swell. It should be loose enough to where your fingers can easily get to your scalp for washing.

I’m aware of how to braid and band.

How long do you go before interlocking?
@Afrodite962 жыл бұрын
It really just depends on when I have time. I do my front maybe every 3 weeks and I kind of neglect the back for 6-8 weeks sometimes 😅

@@Afrodite96 oh no... lol! Just installed my braided microlocs and trying to figure out the best timing. Thanks hon. 😊 Plz continue your journey and don't cut them off. Fix as you go along. There will always be things that we will be picky about, but you'll love them in the end.

I don't like braiding & banding because it makes them apear shorter and thinner
@Afrodite96 Жыл бұрын
Haha if you want them to look more like sisterlocks, then I would recommend continuing to braid and band. Although 8 months in, I stopped. Your choice!
@yvettesmith1681 Жыл бұрын
@@Afrodite96it looked like an old lady with a fresh roller set. They are very tiny, they kinda look like sisterlocs, other than the technique. I started doing the pattern but that was to much so I just took very small parting & just kept twisting. But I'm starting to know that like in the loose natural stage, I can't do everything that others do, it rarely works out for me. I'd be interested in seeing your growth, progress and other interesting things you've learned in your journey. (If possible). Your hair really looks great. I like the fullness & bangs because mine are embarrassing rn 🤦🏿♀️🤷🏿♀️

Is the braid and band for the early stages to prevent unravels.? @faithworksinspiration
@Afrodite962 жыл бұрын
Yes ma’am! Braid and band is important for preventing slipping, unraveling, bunching, and keeps your hair stretched. Although it will prolong the locking process.
