AskDeAvilaSadé is a new, creative show that provides listeners with words of comfort and a listening ear. DeAvila Sadé, the host, is a therapist on and off the clock. Her goal for this show is to provide advice and psychoeducation on mental health issues as well as record responses to letters sent in by her growing audience in hopes that someone will feel understood as well as aid others who may battle from the same situations.

DeAvila Sadé, LCSW, LSSW is currently working as an Individual and Family Therapist. She graduated with her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville and Masters in Social Work from the University of Memphis. She has worked with countless college students and children through internships and work experience.

The beginning of our journeys are really similar! I started out with 12” of hair and ended up with 270+ microlocs as well. I didn’t realize I had “fine” hair until I started my journey. I haven’t seen many people with fine microlocs either so it’s been interesting. Thanks for sharing!

Congratulations on your journey! I do! The honest component is that I have prescription acne medicine called Tretinoin. It has helped me significantly!

I have 274 locs and like you when we counted I was like 😮. I was expecting more but my hair strands are fine and I have medium density. Mine were interlocked so it’s really not full but she said they would get full. I got mine installed on 08/3.

Thank you! For 13 inches of hair plus adding the wash was over $800. I was a quoted this cheaper price because I decided to begin my journey with two strand twists versus interlocking.

Thank you! During installation, fully two strand twists. Maintenance, interlock method at the root.

Did they use the hook or did they just braid the root and twist the rest down and they locked?

If I remember correctly, they interlocked at the root (used the hook) and then twisted the rest down. They left the ends curly.

How are you going to moisture your hair without water?

Great question! My loctican suggested that the only time I should be utilizing water is when I wash my hair because it slows down the maturing process. However, now that I will be 6 months loc in about week, I use a leave-in conditioner once a week to moisturize my hair. At the end of the day, I suggest listening to your hair and you will see what it needs better than anyone ❤️
