🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation: 00:53 Always start with the 4x scanning objective when using a microscope. Using both eyes while using a binocular microscope is recommended to avoid eye strain. Practice helps identify common artifacts like air bubbles or debris in the specimen. Ensure objectives are fully clicked into place to see the complete image. When switching to higher magnifications, recenter the specimen and adjust focus and lighting as needed. Oil immersion improves resolution, but only use fine focus with oil to avoid damaging the equipment. Clean oil from the objective with lens paper, not Kimwipes or paper towels. Despite differences in microscope models, the basic principles and controls remain the same. BioNetwork provides training resources and a virtual microscope app for learning microscopy. 4th mistake. She has the microscope facing the wrong way. Your supposed to uncrew the binocular head screw and turn it 180 degree. Then retight the screw. The goal is to have the slide facing your chest, and the objective revolver is supposed to be facing you, so you can change magnification with ease.

Binocular means more precision prisms in the head. BUT if you go for a 160 mm (DIN) microscope, they are manyfold less expensive than the infinity corrected ones. Infinity corrected is not better. Image resolution and magnification are just as good.
