I honestly believe that we can’t improve strength performance, nutrition or self regulation without paying attention to our nervous system and what you just said today about Chemicals and hormones affecting smooth muscles in the digestive system makes total sense! It's funny how a word like "spindle" would have been recognized by most people 100 years ago when wool was commonly worked. Now, it would be hard to find someone who would know it. Maybe future anatomist will find a new structure that they can call "cell phone shaped".
