Microsoft Access VBA to Compact and Repair

All Access databases benefit from periodically being compacted and repaired. Being able to compact and repair another database can be beneficial if you need to compact and repair a linked BackEnd database or if you want to compact and repair databases from an Administrative database.
In this video we will:
1. Use a split database as an example application.
2. Use VBA to compact and repair the backend of the split database.

I copied and paste the code from the link above. In the first set of codes for Private Sub cmdCompact_Click I modified lines 11 "frmMainMenu" and lines 17 "Parts" to match the form and table in my database. When I try to compile the code I got an error. In line 10 intIndex was not defined I had to include Dim intIndex as Interger. The code under CurBackEnd function it claimed k was not defined so I had to add k to the Dim i, j as Interger. After that the code compiled and worked.

Thank you. I’ve been searching for weeks on how to create a backup of my backend through vba but could not find an adequate solution. This does that plus performs the needed maintenance essential to data integrity. I’ll update once I test the code but it looks promising 👍. Thanks again.

ok. Here’s my update after testing the code...it works. I simply copied the code from the access-jitsu website to test it but in doing so had to make some minor fixes like ensuring all variables were properly declared in the subs and functions. Aside from needing to update the referenced table and form names, the code worked like a champ on access 2016. Some of you are probably more skilled than I am and might not have the same issues so take my findings with a grain of salt. Anyhow, that’s my update. Thanks again to access-jitsu for all the beginner level tutorials. 👍👍
