I guess it might be worthwhile if you have 300+ staff, maybe. The problem I find, is that often people don't even know the questions they want to ask or are trying to answer. More often than not, their data is held in some disastrous format and that's where they're spending the wasted effort (because they can't use PQ). Once you've got your data in a table with all the appropriate columns then you're 90% there already, and anyone that can do this with a degree of competence probably doesn't need copilot. If you could ask it to retrieve data from three different sources, clean it, organise it, provide a series of connections and data tables, returning a dynamic interface then it would likely be of some use. I just think it's very limited in its offering.

Yeah, it's certainly fairly basic right now, but I expect it will improve dramatically with time. Whether it will ever be able to handle complex messy data 🤔unlikely.

Definitely a time saving tool. But I have concerns if used by Excel users who struggle with pivot tables. People whose skill level is not quite intermediate. It almost feels like cheating. And if you go back to them and ask something more advanced, the blank stare on their face would scare me as a manager. My belief is that you need understand the guts of a machine before you try to maximize it

Interesting insights 👍I see it more useful for helping users understand 'how' or 'why' than it actually doing the work for you. It's just too slow to implement your instructions. The data insights will be useful, but again, it's a tool, not a complete solution.

You're absolutely correct. Corporate America is going to think that this software levels the playing field and makes everyone a Data Scientist regardless of skill level since anyone can do it with Copilot. They will think they can replace 5 Data Scientists salaries with a $200k subscription and now everyone is a Data Scientist. Unfortunately, when those less skilled users try to use it, they will either not be able to generate the correct AI prompt to get the desired result or they will not have the ability to check the work of the tool and be left to assume that it is correct. I guarantee that at least one company goes out of business because someone generates executive reports with incorrect formulas, there is no one left in the company capable of finding the error, and they make decisions based on incorrect data.

Very interesting Mynda. I see it's value (in it's current state, which I know will improve constantly) in helping with complex formulas. When you inherit a file from someone else who has written a complex formula, it can take some time to dissect it to understand it better. This can definitely help there. I agree, Chris. I think it will be super useful for those tasks, but having it actually do the work for you is way too slow for every day use. Of course, if you're a complete beginner, then it's helpful, but it's not sustainable to solely use Copilot.

Yes, it's definitely better at the language based apps like Word, Outlook and PowerPoint. I can see it being helpful for formulas, but having it actually do the work, is less useful.

Thanks for splashing out $230k just to show us copilot :) And for talking it through. The conditional format rule is for a cell range: $J$2:$J$701 so I guess that if you add data to the table the new rows won't get the formatting. Strange that copilot demands data in an Excel table format but then doesn't use structured referencing. Personally I am coming to the conclusion that AI is rubbish at doing the things I know how to do already. But pretty good at doing some of the things I can't.

It's confusing but the conditional formatting tool doesn't recognise table structured references, but it will automatically expand to include new rows in the table without having to edit the rule.

It's currently only available to corporates willing to purchase 300+ licenses, as explained at the beginning. We are hopeful it will become available to all 365 users once this initial phase is over.

Even the God comes in to excel like add Ins Also , People should learn the Excel Properly & manually, without the manual knowledge and skills in excel , people cant even able to get and confirm the basic benefits of these kind of tools like chatgpt ,copilot , etc!!! What ever the tech comes in !!! Manual Learning & understanding of "EXCEL" is the only way to Survive from the Real Time multi work Tasks & others staff!!

Yes, I agree that learning the skills will be way more efficient than asking AI to do it and then waiting for it to do the task. Great if you get stuck, but not sustainable long term.

Well, you can get answers to prompts, but GPT 3.5 can't make changes to your spreadsheet, but it can tell you how to do it, I agree.
