Microsoft IT outage strands me in London for 10 days

The Microsoft Crowdstrike IT outage grounded over 5,000 commercial flights worldwide on July 19th, in what’s been called the largest IT outage in history. A couple thousand flights have been cancelled each day in the aftermath. And my cancelled flight from London to New York was one of those. My airline, Norse, booked me on a flight one week later, on the 28th. So I’m stuck here in London. That was actually my second cancelled flight. The first one, on the 17th, was cancelled due to a technical issue, and I was rebooked for 3 days later. So all in all, I’m supposed to spend 10 days in London. Norse is covering my stay at the Hilton London Gatwick and up to 50 pounds in food expenses per day.

Oh wow! Sorry to hear about your adventure... but seems like you found the silver lining! Enjoy your time in London. Hopefully next time, the outage will be during a layover in Hawaii or the Maldives :D

Fantastic production work. Your channel will be very successful. Might need an outro snippet instead of the video just stopping cold. Maybe just a saying like “Helen out!”. We love being AT travel spots, but the actual traveling part is by far the worst. We went across central Europe just before covid and realized packing up all your things every couple days and seeing your 50th castle is not our style. Now we prefer to go to one place for vacation and stay put. Wish you all the best!
