The „flat“ colour of fs2024 is actually more true to life. Fs2020 is over saturated but we have become accustomed to it so fs2024 looks flat in comparison

What I've noticed is, MSFS2024 textures render better and pop out more but the textures are poor and look cardboard quality. MSFS 2020 textures have better fidelity, even though on high end PCs 2024 doesn't look better than what high end pcs can demonstrate on MSFS2020. MSFS 2024 is the temu version of its predecessor

2020 has more depth and weight, having an immersive feeling even if the graphic details are less accurate, while 2024 looks more detailed but everything looks flat and light as purely displaying items.

Yes! Exactly! The colors of the various objects and the lighting and the reflections in 2020 look more natural and blend better together and with with the environment! There is just better balancing of almost every asset with each other in 2020. In 2024 there is more detail but everything looks way too artificial and flat as you said - I would also use the word "static" and pseudo-3D - almost 2D in a 3D depiction i.e. there is lack of 3D depth feeling . And you get all this for less fps on the same hardware - thank you but no I wont participate in this farce madam M$&Asobo.

These are just randomly selected locations showcasing the features of MSFS 2024. I've reverted to MSFS 2020 because, in many more places, it looks significantly better than the 2024 version. Performance is far superior in MSFS 2020; in virtual reality, it's even 40% better in many scenarios. Everything works better in MSFS 2020. MSFS 2024 is essentially an alpha product that has been misleadingly advertised; without exaggeration, it needs at least two more years to be as polished as MSFS 2020. Don’t be fooled by videos like these.

In all these examples but one, 24 looks so much better. In some cases, it was next to breathtaking how gorgeous 24 is. How the hell do some people think 20 looks better?? It's not even close and this video clearly shows that.

I appreciate you, Mr. Fulton. I've downloaded the sim but haven't flown, and I won't perhaps for another six months or so. I believe in the project and am biding my time. Your work helps chronicle Asobo's progress for me with simple comparisons that compute. The hype and heat just wear me out. I foresee FS2024 turning out to be all I'd hoped FS2020 would be. Ya fs2024 looks pretty, but it’s unstable, with memory leaks random ctd’s and all sorts of bugs. There’s issues with streaming and it’s generally unstable. There’s a lot of work that needs to be done before it’s stable enough to really dig into. In my opinion it was released about a year to early…Why??? Money of course. Those Executives need to get their end of the year bonuses.

Thank you!! At last somebody with typical hardware doing a side by side comparison. I don't know if you are doing this already but running a locked framerate for both and a matched resolution would be great with the max settings you can get away with on each that allows it to maintain that framerate. Then we can really compare Microsoft progress. My expectations would be that to get better visuals in 2024 means more hardware and more power. If you are doing that already, could you please let us know what FR and resolution you are using. I'm staying on 2020 for now until 2024 works so I might need to be patient for some time yet especially as I use VR. Thanks again, now subscribed!

To be honest, there is little difference. In some of those comparisons I actually think 2020 looks better. Certainly not worth the expense of upgrading your internet speed or buying an expensive GPU or even a new high spec PC. I have both versions installed on xbox x and mid-high spec PC and can't really notice any major difference or improvements in the flight model either. All they needed to do was to incorporate a few of the new .'bells & whistles' into 2020 and called it 2020 Pro edition or something. Job done.

👍👍 @FULTON OFFICIAL - Thanks for posting this. I don't have 2024 yet but have mixed feelings watching many YT videos of 2024 so far, including this one. Yes, in some cases it appears that 2024 looks superior to 2020 as far as improved 3D trees and ground/terrain details including rocks, improved grass, etc. What looks worse in some cases is the environmental lighting and the cartoonish oversaturated and unrealistic coloring of some trees/forests and flora. Even the clouds don't look much different. Then there's the overly bright night lighting at many airports and cities. Gotta admit that so far I'm not overly impressed with 2024's graphics vs 2020, not to mention the launch fiasco and horrendous user experiences that 2024 buyers have suffered and some are still having. I'm sure in time that Asobo will manage to morph 2024 into the marvel we've been promised. Until then, 2020 is still outstanding in so many ways. Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!

I am perfectly happy with my $200 purchase. Yes, there are some bugs. And I fully expect them to be squashed over time just as they have been so far. I do not find the internet requirement to be an issue and think it is much better than the massive bloat of 2020 addons. Graphics are much superior even on my 10 year old potato. (I7-4750, RTX3050)

I think its the lighting in FS2024. It looks a bit washed out or maybe a bit too bright. Some of the detail in the textures are improved over FS2020 and from what I hear the flight dynamics are also improved. I don't own the new sim yet but based on what I've seen, I'm going to stay with FS2020 for a while longer. I mean, sure there are improvements in FS2024, but in my opinion the immersion is not there yet which is important to me.

I had MSFS 2020 for three years, and in my opinion, the graphics in 2024 are clearly superior. Terrain details are far more nuanced due to (don't laugh) rocks and the variety of flora, and the textures on southwestern terrain types is easily superior. People won't see that much on cities because they tend to compare cities that were already done with photogrammetery. On most other cities and airports, 2024 is superior. Night flying is amazing in 2024 and was quite horrible in 2020. Coastal areas (as shown in the video) are far more realistic. The bugs will be fixed. They were still releasing fixes for 2020 right up until 2024 released, but of course waiting will ensure you don't have as many bugs, but the bugs are worth the improvement for me right now. After a week, I uninstalled 2020.

Some of these shots are unfair due to weather, especially Gibraltar. MSFS 2020 has a cloud blocking the sunlight while 2024 has direct sun light. Color wise and detail 2024 is obviously superior due to more realistic blue light scatter, color values and autogen complexity adds more detail on top. Night lighting is vastly better on 2024.
