Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 Trailer 2 was recently released at this year's Xbox Showcase. Like the announcement trailer 1, Trailer 2 teased many new aircraft that we will see in the base sim. @@stephenjones8928 So far they haven't said anything about other versions but I can say there are reasons for them to do both. I can understand them rethinking the Premium Deluxe version because that was a lot of basic stuff locked behind a paywall and that alienates players, that's not good for the sim. I can see them doing it because some parts may not appeal to all players. Like for me, I couldn't care less about flying VIPs so if that was sperate that wouldn't bother me, that way I could get only the mission packs I want(I know they are not doing this at this time but they could add other stuff like this like they did with the Reno Air Race pack(though they said they regret putting that behind a paywall)). So there are arguments for both paths forward. Only time will tell at this point.

@@ImpendingJoker I agree about the challenges they face with the various pricing models they might employ and the possible pushback (to put it mildly) they may evoke from the more volatile factions in the flight sim community. As you imply, they probably don't know themselves at this point. Did not know about them regretting the Reno races business model but, as I recall, initially there was the Deluxe expansion and the Premium Deluxe expansion only, asides from Standard. It was sometime later when you could buy the Deluxe, Premium (by itself) or the Premium Deluxe after some outcry from folks that only wanted, say, the Dreamliner or Frankfurt or Heathrow without having to buy anything from the Deluxe expansion. At least that was the case in the Canadian version of the Game Store.

I’m trying to understand your question, a pay-ware release should satisfy the main consumer, however these businesses could release a beta or base or freeware version, I’m confused trying to understand what your expectations out of curiosity, like cross compatibility on devices like consoles or pc? A base version is usually what i stated

Yes, I am glad that it is the Got Friends Optica and not the Orbx one. I had heard somewhere else that was the Orbx one and that was disappointing to me. I am kind of bummed that the R-66 is by Caranado and not the one from Cowansim.

It's all about simulation and realism so they have to have all the Boeing faults. Otherwise it's just a game. I'd be disappointed if my Boeing doesn't just fall out of the sky randomly while playing.

The air tractor with floats on it is the turbine version and the one with the spray booms is a piston so it looks like we’re getting both versions of that too?

The plane being used for crop dusting isn't a 208, and it's not the same aircraft being used for firefighting. The crop duster is a cessna 188 and the firefighter is an AT 802. I'm not sure where you got the 208 from, cuz the 208 is the caravan, a completely different aircraft.

Those are gyrocopters (or gyros) and are a completely different aircraft from helicopters. The rotors on the gyros do not have any power and spin freely. Once you get enough forward momentum (provided by the rear facing propeller), the main rotor will spin and basically autorotate just like a helicopter with a bad engine. The term helicopter refers to an aircraft that has a powered rotor and typically gets both it's lift and forward momentum from that powered rotor. Of course the US army is now playing around with having both a powered main rotor as well as a rear facing propeller for forward momentum.

They are not powered in flight but on the ground they have a motor that spins the lift rotors to flight speed, and some can actually be spun up a bit faster for an even shorter takeoff roll called a jump take off. This allows them to become airborne in about the distance of one tire rotation.

The Air Tractor is an AT-802, the 208 was never a thing. The "Zeppelin" is the same Skyship 600. but since they keep mentioning the word Zeppelin, I can see them throwing in the Zeppelin NT into the sim. Also Got Friends is bringing us their Stemme S12G motor glider.

I am very excited for this release. I await patiently the release of the full contents for each edition and a review edition to be released so I can see the ATC system in action. This was one of the biggest failures of MSFS 2020 and was never addressed by Microsoft. Now is the opportunity to get it right.

Has no one noticed that Microsoft's simulated flight cloud is very unrealistic? The real cloud appears blurry when viewed up close, while the outline of the cloud should be clear when viewed slightly further away.

Helicopter has a powered rotor that provides both lift and thrust, allowing for vertical takeoff and landing while the autogyro uses an unpowered rotor that spins freely to generate lift.
