The problem is neither ASOBO's nor Microsoft's, but rather that in most Latin American countries there are no flights to photograph the terrain with LIDAR technology, which is where the information is obtained, and in those countries where it is done, the governments do not provide such data. In other countries, such information is usually in the public domain, although it is also available for a fee.

@@Gerardius Clouds rendered in ground textures is a satellite imagery problem, it has nothing to do with "flights" or LIDAR. Be clear I'm not even going as far as wanting photogrammetry, just ground textures worthy of this decade. Google Maps has vastly superior satellite imagery, so Microsoft has absolutely no excuse. Modern satellites orbit the whole planet.

The problem with South America is there is very little photogrammetry available, and this city updates are based on that data. For South America Microsoft would have to gather the photogrammetry themselves, which is expensive and time consuming. On other continents like North America and Europe, that data is widely available, making it easier and cheaper for the updates to be pushed

I assure you they know. They've been working on it for a long time but have hit troubles doing so. It is still coming but as they've spoken about many times, SA isn't an easy place to get the data & have hit many delays out of their hands.

Brazil World Update has been in development for a while. It was mentioned on a past dev stream that it was originally proposed to release prior to SU15, but something about local governments not endorsing the photogrammetry etc is holding things up. They have the data for it already, just not the approval. But it's coming!

Yay, Buffalo! I flew past there once, on the way up the great lakes from Ohio to Toronto, and was disappointed to see that city’s distinctive grain elevators replaced by suspiciously grain-elevator-shaped office buildings. Hopefully this will correct that issue. Also, yay DC! You can now enjoy good scenery while pretending to transport the president in a helicopter. I tried to do this once before, and was disappointed by autogen scenery.

It's integrated into the sim, if you play by the clock and select the 4th of July, there will be fireworks starting at 10pm by default.

Washington DC is in the Mid-Atlantic region, not Northeast. That would be New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, Rhode Island.
