So fun fact about the G1000, you actually use the standby battery when first starting. You go down to test for 10 seconds, then up to turn it on. Right before start you turn on the master and alternator. A little tidbit from flying the G1000

Anyone interested. The reason you turn it on before the master and start the engine is to smooth the voltage on the essentials bus from the alternator when starting the engine. Basically helps even out any spikes when the alternator first cranks up.

I am not sure what your marital status is on this airfield but I would keep am eye on the guy in your garage who seems he is far too familiar in your house, tell him it is just a C172 & if you want to push it back you will do it yourself.

When you're in showcase mode you can press the c key on the keyboard and then you can control the flight surfaces of the plane while in showcase mode.

I’m sure you already know this, but if you press C (I think, by default. Or whatever you keybind it to), you can control things on the aircraft while in drone mode, like elevator, ailerons, flaps.

As you mentions rudderpedals. I got Thrustmaster Pendular rudderpedals and can highly recoment them. Use them for both helicopters and flying planes. A high price and a high quallity :)

You haven't been around flight sims for a long time if you say that "every time you wanted something to look better, you had to open your wallet, now that finally seems to change". The community creating free addons was massive until they stopped making new flight sims like 15 years ago. Maybe we are going back to that now finally.

I started back in the the FS98 days but didn’t do it seriously enough to know about add ons and stuff until about 10 years ago. That’s when I really decided to learn about aviation. P3D is where most of my investments went.

I started with FS5.1 I don't think I paid for an add-on until Dreamfleet's 737 for FS2002. In the beginning everything was free. They were also more simple and didn't require a development team.

I started around the 98-2000 era but treated it like a game back then. I didn’t start studying and learning until about 10 years ago. That’s when I started buying stuff. I’m sure there was free stuff, but I had few sources.

depends on what youre flying.. xp still is much better with airliners and ifr flight, msfs blows everything out of the water with vfr and all that though.. i look forward to msfs taking over the ifr spot soon though

You would have to switch to the showcase camera to leave. But would need it already inside the plane otherwise it will start you outside already.

It’s perfectly okay to run the ALT prior to start on these 172s. Some C172 models even tell you to do it. Other than that it’s a flight school discretion thing.
