I don't understand why we'd start the clock on v4.2. Yes that was when we had more autonomy. And we rewrote the kernel, to optimise it for Win NT. However, SQL Server v1.0 shipped on 1989. We were actively selling, supporting & enhancing it on OS/2 for years before the WinNT release.
