Isn't Lam what Alister Crowley called the demon/ET he supposedly channeled? I don't think they do these things on accident.

Sounds like normal process in AI world. No drastic changes implemented like generating ghost process inside windows OS and hiding the real work of evolution of AI and showing some only the tasks done by AI Agents. So don't be in hurry to expect to much from AI Agents.

Microsoft using Chat GPT to assist with development of their product Yep. "Microsoft Word running on dedicated virtual machines":- you need that these days with how resource hungry Microsoft office products are. Jokes aside, the phrase in itself isn't saying anything. For example, an organisation might have a dedicated virtual machine or even a terminal server to serve environmental instances of the virtual machine or server environment with the workloads being in house or in the cloud so that their users can just use the single app Microsoft Word. In fact, Microsoft might have created a request window (or a setting in Windows environment) within Word, requesting permission to harvest data "to improve their services", which runs a process to gather/send data compiling user keystrokes or mouse actions with tasks etc. What's the big deal honestly?

I hope that they really continue to develop Copilot. Currently, the Copilot cannot even be used to re-edit the text if you try in a language other than English. At least the result cannot be used.

This could be (and emphasis on the word *could*) be a big deal, because it shows that smaller models can potentially outperform larger models. Now with the o-series coding capabilities improving significantly, it will probably soon become possible (or perhaps it already is) for an agentic system whose main brain is / are larger model(s) to train a small model on the spot depending on the specific task. In other words, a larger more general model being able to get to superior performance by training smaller models on the go, tailored to the task. Now, I’m speculating here, obviously.

This is s completely wrong approach from MS. Teaching an AI to control gui elements is pointless. We already know the CLI is a billion times more capable and descriptive in real os's. Linux/osx will be what does this well. Futzing with ui elements that represent only a fraction of capabilities is as limited as windows is itself.
