This is very outdated because in 2015 it was called DirSync and he doesn't even mention that (DirSync e.g. now Azure Active Directory Connect). There's also this ingest server thing...and after doing 5 migrations I have never come across an "ingest server" nor does he go into cover what it is at all. There's also no discussion about using something like ADFS or PING for Federated Identities. Additionally, there's no mention of the MRS Proxy service for the actual migration of mailboxes, the whole first portion was honestly a total waste of time. This video should honestly be retired because it's kind of misleading.

Fabulous sir.. I have one question, When the data from file server(Which holds intranet data) are moved to O365 server(share-point, one drive etc..) why do we still need the file server? Also, can the o365 handle active directory individually(azure ad) and can one eliminate the onsite ad?
@stutesnstuff33376 жыл бұрын
No Azure Active Directory doesn't replace your on-prem AD. Technically you could move your DC's to be hosted in AZURE IaaS but I would NOT recommend that unless you have a very very small org. As far as maintaining the File Server, that is totally up to your org's Disaster Recovery requirements. For example, on my latest Exchange Migration project the mission is to upgrade Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2016 and deploy O365 (Exchange Online) here's an overview: Exchange 2010 & Exchange 2016 co-existence with Exchange 2016 and Exchange Online Hybrid Configuration. There are 2 AD sites with 5 Exchange 2016 servers each so a 10 server DAG, but why would we do that if we have O365/Exchange Online? The only reason is that is Project Backout Plan, so basically if the business at any point decides that O365 cant meet requirements (local, state, or federal) then I can move everything back to the on-prem Exchange infrastructure relatively quickly (1-3wks) and not lose any data or messaging capabilities. Note: on-prem mbx's are 10Gb therefore I am limiting the Exchange Online Mbx's to also be maximum of 10Gb. I helped the Sharepoint team configure the same type of hybrid model as well.

Beerusama I’m in the middle of doing a migration this weekend - exchange 2010 server to office 365. I’m running into some issues with Active directory. Would you want to help check out what’s going on? Let me know your price. I’m supposed to have 75 mailboxes migrated by Monday at 8am

Do you guys have any links on how to create an ingest server?
@carlosg1178 жыл бұрын
The ingest server is provided by an Azure Application given in the steps of the migration in the Admin center of portal.office.com, if you work with a Partner they do this for you.

If you are looking for step-by-step, end to end onboarding guidance for Office 365 / Microsoft 365, you can check out aka.ms/setupguidance when you log into your tenant as a tenant admin. The guidance and automation in these process flows will take most IT Pros through any Office 365 onboarding scenario, and tenant admins can use the Need Help tab in the lower right hand corner to request onboarding help from Microsoft if needed. This setup guidance is a great complementary tool for tenant admins who need help setting up their tenant and services.

I'm from the UK. We have millions of great people from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and more, who are IT techs, Tandoori chefs (wow, thanks, really cool), shopkeepers, and just people doing stuff. Perhaps most importantly, we have huge numbers of fantastic medical personnel who have asian roots. One of them, (love you!) saved my mother's life with an amazing, complex heart operation. If there is a bit of an accent, I see it as a positive.

No he's referring to the countless Indian instructors on youtube who are nearly impossible to understand. I've worked with them both as internal company resources as well as reaching out to for vendor support and it's always a coin toss whether or not I will get someone that I can understand or if I have to hang up and try again and hope that someone else answers the phone.
