Excellent and fair comparison and really covered the important features and questions I had about the two. Your conversational style is also nice since it didn't sound robotic or boring. Thanks for sharing your time and experience to help us out! Much love, brother.

Overall, I prefer Google Docs over Microsoft Word reason being Microsoft Word is too expensive, and when I need to get work done, Google Docs is my go to.

Our school provides us with MS Office but i still use Google Docs since i think it's much simpler and for me it feels much more optimized.

I think google has a really good product especially if you are already in that ecosystem. I do a lot of collaboration on google docs. Thanks for the comment.

14:20 i feel like if you live somewhere with low internet connection, or none at all, you wouldn't be able to comfortably afford microsoft's office packages anyway. you either pirate them or use free alternatives. so to be frank i don't get who they're targeting with those crazy pricing plans 😂

Awesome video! Great comparison. I'm a Microsoft guy mainly because it's supplied by my employer! I'm also a Google fan even if they track everything I do!

Neither option is a bad one. It really depends on the situation. At work its Microsoft. At home it's a mixture of Google and onlyoffice.

well, from my experience - Google is much more web friendly and the work online is much smoother in Google Docs - in Office, lot of functionality is lost in web app and you must install desktop app. For example - the company migrated (for some reason) from Google to MS and documents were migrated as well, now when I open (on the the web) text document, it's in some read mode, which blurs documents in other than 100% zoom, doesn't have navigation panel (meaning table of contents generated from headers, like GDoc had). Yeah, workaround is to install desktop app, but why is that necessary for simple viewing of the document? There are other inconveniences there, like I've created the document (just for testing purposes during first touch with the environment) and even though I was owner of the document I couldn't delete it - the delete action was missing in right click popup menu - after some time, I've found out that those menus are context aware, so you must be in correct folder / view, to be able to perform some actions.

That honestly sounds like a nightmare. I agree, Google Docs was born in the web...Microsoft Word merely adopted it.

Thanks for your review, Adrian. I love your style! As someone who collaborates with others remotely--and also trains adults to use necessary technology--I definitely recommend Google over Microsoft. Why? 1. Shared containers: Google Sites & Drive & Google Classroom are much more user-friendly and take a few minutes to learn. Yes, I have used GClassroom when helping a group of adults onboard with new technology or content and everyone loves it! :-) 2. The @ feature on Google Docs/Sheets/Slides allows for task assignment which saves so much time when taking notes during a meeting or socially annotating a report etc. I could go on, but I have to take care of some deadlines. Take care!

Thank very much for this information. I dont use the google suite everyday but when I do it comes in clutch. I didn't consider ease of use as a factor but since you said it, it makes sense. Thank you again for the kind words. I appreciate it.

Great job man. Nvr looked at Docs, always installed Office. I'm thnkin about a lighter eco system on old hardware, ChromeOS & Docs seems the way 2 go.

I have a v. old version - was costly at the time, of Microsoft Office - I used it & loved it for years. Then upgraded to new PC & laptop. Got MS365 free for the year. VERY complicated & irritating, but very nicely coordinates everything to pc & laptop instantly. DON't like paying 69.99 but that's not all there's taxes on that & they don't tell you the final cost until you feed your payment info. in & buy. THAT I don't like - I wanna know!! Now after this video, I am thinking google docs. but do need to get in there off line at times, so thinking I'll just use the old & gold version of MS word if the key still works!? THANKS A TON FOR YOUR INPUT, ADRIAN - VERY HELPFUL!! Namaste & Ushtaa-te!!

Thank you for the kind words. If you need a good offline office suite I would recommend either libreoffice or onlyoffice. They are both free and robust in their offerings. Thanks again.

Most students’ colleges and universities give them MS Office for free.

You are right, it definitely is apart of their tuition. Usually it's the online 365. It's not bad.

@@AdrianReddix actually they give students access to the full office suite. I worked in higher education for years until 2021 so virtually every college lets students, faculty, and staff get it for free

Also most of workplaces have a license of Microsoft Office, I like Google docs for quick edits but for heavy use, nothing like having your files on your own drive, macros compatibility. When you send a file you are sending that file not a link, if you have a client that is part of a corporate environment they may have restrictions on place connecting to Google docs, also when you send an email you send that specific version of the file not a live file
