If you like laptops, you’ve definitely heard of the Surface Laptop from Microsoft. Well, it’s back in its third iteration and this time, there’s a bigger option to choose from! So, we took a look at the 15” Surface Laptop 3 in Black, that’s powered by an AMD Ryzen 5 3580U and took it through its paces.
How did it fare?
To be frank, not as great as we would’ve hoped it to be, but it was certainly interesting.

Read in recent reviews that it overheats, the fan gets loud sometimes and you need to charge it couple of times a day, can you confirm this for me please

I've not had the laptop for a long period of time, have since returned to Microsoft. But during our experience with it, it ran within its parameters, no issues at all.

I think it should do you fine! It's certainly a laptop that can handle most tasks, including creative.

i have an issue with mine where its very very slow on photoshop, so slow in fact even just opening the software and minimizing it is very laggy and refreshes the app. i somehow have a different ryzen 5 which is 3550u not 3580u and i dont get 8 or 10 hrs battery life. i just got it 2 days ago new from bestbuy. i got the base model but im not happy with the performance in photoshop. i cant even play a basic game like minecraft windows 10 edition on battery or plugged in very choppy not even 60fps. i also tried playing sao lost song or re hollow fragment and it barely got me 30fps at 720p . also amd states freesync and can run all adobe software but idk what to believe anymore.

The Ryzen 3000 series is not a powerhouse of a chip, especially for gaming. It can do decent for creative stuff, but gaming is far from ideal. As your case, you might have a defective unit, because as far as we know, there is only one variant of the Ryzen 5, used in the Surface Laptop 3. Do try for an RMA.

Bro thunderbolt 3 is an Intel exclusive feature, though some Asus mother boards got support for it on AMD, it's pretty much useless since it's a PC. but we can't complain for the lack of thunderbolt 3 on a amd laptop

Maybe true, but as you've said, ASRock and Asus already released an AMD motherboard with support for Thunderbolt 3, so I don't think it's too far fetched to hope that it'll translate down to the laptop segment. And well, you can also get the Intel based 15" Laptop 3 if you go Business.
