The truth is that I have never been a big fan of Surfaces, although this one doesn't seem so bad to me. On the contrary, it has been useful for certain jobs.

Yeah, a hell no for Recall. It's a dystopian nightmare for privacy. Microsoft should drop its stupid ideas for AI. Maybe we wouldn't even need to think about recall if search on Windows would actually be competent and show us our files instead of stupid Bing web search results.

I think Recall would be nice if everything ran locally on your machine, and the data stays on your machine and never interacts with Microsoft servers. But as it stands I am not interested at all. Same goes with a lot of AI tech. I want to run things locally when it comes to my data, but most uses some services that does everything on some server out there.

same here. I got a Surface 3 in 2015, then had to replace it in 2018 with the Surface 2017 model because the battery died. It's not getting Windows 11 or anything.

One reason why I ditched my Apple iPad Pro is, the OS. Many apps made for iPad OS is based on the mobile app standard, but what I need is a normal desktop app style.

I have both the Surface Pro and iPad Pro M1--to be honest if Apple let me run MacOS on my iPad I'd probably use it as my only computer as it has great hardware. The Surface Pro beats my iPad completely out of the water for Photoshop (no comparison), and nearly all my Adobe apps, as well as coding. My iPad is a great device for web surfing, writing in Pages, some basic Lightroom edits and other use cases, which is a real shame as it has an M1, 2TB storage and 16gb ram!

Even my MacBook Pro 2020 with 8gb of ram did not do well with Photoshop or even multiple tabs open. The fan was going crazy.

The translation delay is not because of software delay but inherant to linguistics. You cannot translate in real time because languages are structured differently and have different inherent context that need interpretation which makes it impossible to just translate word for word real time.

Nice colour, sapphire blue. Pity that it's only available on the more expensive versions (1979 euro and up) here in Europe. Microsoft is boldly pricing itself out of the market. Oh and if you want OLED, that's more than 2300 euro, thank you. 1000 euro more than a Samsung Book4 Edge with similar specs and weight.

Apply for an university and get a OLED surface starting from 1100€. Then drop out. Only works if the education is free in your country though

@@edojap I'm from Germany. But I was part wrong anyway, you have to pass a university credit point threshold in the first six months (and send a document of it to Microsoft to prove it or you will be charged the rest of the sum I assume)

Few years ago get twice this as a company machine. Built quality was nice, but a piece of ….. Battery swollen , freeze all the time. I can’t even recall how many times it was replaced by warranty. After begging the IT department, they let me buy a macbook, and since then the rest just bad memories.

Anyone ever wonder why apps, like much of Adobe suite, that have builds for Macs that are ARM architecture, don't just make builds for Windows on Arm? Yes I know it's not 1:1 but it shouldn't be a massive undertaking seeing that they already usage arm builds. I wonder if Apple had influence on this??

x86 (Intel/AMD) is more popular? Apple didn't give devs a choice between x86 and ARM like MS is still doing with Windows. WoA support rollout will take a while due to slow adoption.

I was hoping you would comment on which is more important, 5G or more RAM and SSD... If I choose 5G, I only have the option of 16GB RAM and 512 SSD. If I choose Wifi instead of 5G, I can choose upto 32 GB RAM and 1TB SSD.

Get the Wifi with 32GB RAM and 1 TB SSD. 5G is great if you are close to your router. But if you want a more consistent signal throughout your whole home, then just get the regular wifi.

I have a surface pro 9 i7 and it does a brilliant job minus fan on maximum when playing heroes vii on it…. So not sure how much of an improvement 11 is vs 9…

The Keyboard is a lemon. Microsoft refuses to admit the surface pro keyboard is a dud. We had three at work and one at home and the keyboard failed on all of them. A systematic hardware issue with a Microsoft engineer anonymously admitting it is a design fault in the wiring architecture. You would think Microsoft would do the right thing and make replacement keyboards a reasonable price but no. Again another reason not to trust Microsoft.

Do not overlook with the phrase “mobile class processor” bought 12core EliteX, multi task with Handbrake (native), VLC (native), some Telegram (x86)… system can’t handle it. Locks up, handbrake went down to 17fps, runs slower than my i5… handbrake on Mac M1 on same video goes 80+ fps.

I get AI is "the future." Why, however, are you turning your tablet form facotr computer into a tablet that cannot operate as a computer for so much software? Have had a Surface Book 2 13in since 2018 and you couldn't be more wrong. it's STILL one of the most well built and premium machines even in 2024 standards. innovative design as well that still has yet to be replicated. Surface design language is on another level compared to Dell, Lenovo, and Asus. rivals and even beats Apple in some regards.

I use both, linux on desktop (daily driver and work, some games) and windows on my surface (for browsing/reading/yt in the evenings + linux and touch isn't great afaik), and also windows on desktop for specific games and ableton live. Just use what you like/want, they all have their pro's and con's. If apple would sell an ipad woth macos, I would probably try that, but I doubt they ever will, and ios is just not for me. it's just too closed off
