Introduction to the new SharePoint start experience

About 1% of our users publish site pages, so this new Start page is of absolutely no use to the other 99%. The same has been pretty much true of the last two organisation I've worked for. Not all organisation work the way that Microsoft think they should. So please PLEASE give admins the option to specify a home page or the root page as the SharePoint Start page instead.

Is there a way to block users to publish the page/site? So only SharePoint admins can create and publish sites/pages.

With permissions - user can only publish to target site if they have sufficient permissions to do that in that particular site.

With permissions and configurations which are the same as for the current SharePoint start page - there are no new permissions or configuration changes with this new UX

Any plans to integrate Copilot functionalities into SPO in the near future? Didn't see anything in the Roadmap & was curious
