New Azure SQL Database free offer | Data Exposed

Announcing the public preview of the new Azure SQL Database free offer, which gives a free amount of compute and storage for one serverless database per Azure subscription. The offer is ideal for new and existing customers who want to develop for free and create a proof of concept with an Azure SQL Database. The offer does not expire and renews every month. Customers can switch to continue usage mode to unlock more capabilities and scale up their database without losing their data or settings.

i think the serverless offering is confusing to be honest. We all want sql db's for sometimes less than 10 tables and we don't want to pay a arm and leg and we are reluctant to go to no sql

What do you mean by serverless? is there a startup time?

Serverless in Azure SQL Database means you only pay for the compute you use, and the database can automatically pause when not in use. And yes, when an Azure SQL Database in serverless mode is resumed after being paused due to inactivity, there's a startup time.
