It's like then the adverts were kind of about how we could be the best we could be, they were imaginative and progress conscious and looked like a lot of effort, creativity and love went into them. Adverts today just pander endlessly.

Yep, many of the commercials during that time were futuristic cool, featured sunshine and a beach setting, and the nightlife/city lights. Also they featured more romance/sensuality-- lots of flirtatious glances exchanged between men and women. I was a kid during the 80s and I remember that time fondly.

These are just the most futuristic 80s commercials. I can assure you that most 80s commercials were low-quality and cheesy (think of the Full House opening credits).

@@DonaldTrumpsDankMemeStash Yes, it's true not all the commercials had a futuristic vibe, however, that was a major theme considering this was the 80s when there was much discussion about space travel and sci fi was a highly popular genre. Overall there were a greater a variety of commercials than what you see today and more effort went into the production. You had some family oriented ones as you mentioned which can seem cheesy by today's standards but they could also be fun and I definitely wouldn't call them "low quality". There were also other themes like those with an 80s sports montage, people having fun at the beach, people dancing, or a cool or sexy vibe, etc. Some of the commercials here aren't even particularly futuristic in tone, for instance the Big Mac tonight and Ford Mercury commercials captured more of a cool nightlife vibe(young people today don't seem to go out at night as often) while others feature style and fashion. As an 80s kid, I have great affection for that time.

When I read job search results, there was a job for teaching a university upper level class that looked like an abbreviation for design or something. I searched for the course on Google and found a directory of folders from several related departments like marketing and supply chain management, and browsed a few before the site locked me out without university computing credentials. I kinda wish this style of living was still around but our electronics and media would change like they did. The futuristic of the 80s mixed with the hyperrealism of games and the easy touch of iphones, laptops, etc Now that's the future we should be living in.

Back when they made quality over quantity. I have a Mitsubishi CRT that still works till this day, and it’s being used as a CCTV monitor. I have a Hitachi CD player paired with a Technics Dolby Stereo, and it’s the best sound quality I’ve ever heard of.
