Microsorum pteropus 'Windeløv'

Microsorum pteropus ‘Windeløv’ is an easy and slow growing rhizome plant that grows as an epiphyte best attached to rocks or wood. It is available from Tropica in regular pots and as AquaDecor, already attached to lava stone or driftwood. It does tolerate low levels of lighting and no CO2 injection but does best with moderate to bright light, with added CO2 and regular liquid fertiliser dosing. The rhizome requires circulating water and it should not be buried in the substrate but attached to the aquarium decor.

One of my favorites. And I loved hearing the history of this plant! I think it looks very nice because it makes for a great statement in the aquascape! The frilly and tassily(and I'm making up words🤣) gives it a unique look and can really help when you're trying to achieve a certain scale in creating a scape! I don't know if that made sense.. I've been trying to figure out for days how to say it 🤣🤣 anyway.. definitely one of my favorites and I would love to have Tropica's original version!! I have just now finally gotten growth in the type we get from our big box pet stores! Definitely worth the wait growing it out! I don't know why the Horticultural term for the leafs known as "Crested" isnt used in the hundreds of mentions of this plant on the internet. Also,as a fern it loves iron..most Pteridophyte keepers ( fern lovers!) know this.

I have these in my aquarium both Bought on wood and smaller ones glued to stones. I do weekly water changes, feed them the correct amount of Tropica Specialised Plant Fertilizer and after about 2 weeks they just die. Leaves go brown, some yellow. Lights are on for 8 hours. They are not ultra bright lights. Yet they still die. I use declorinated tap water and my PH 7.6. I don't use Co2 as I have Shrimp in my tank. Maybe that's why They die. So sad 😔

Hi Caroline. You could easily use CO2 as long as you don't overdose, the shrimp won't be affected; we have shrimp in all our tanks paired with CO2.

I received a windelov and it had rope at the base at the leaves.And some leaves came off so easy .

No.It was not.there should always be a rhiZome.And not bundled leaves tied with rope
