No interest in this particular Microtech, just wanted to share something with you that really made me smile today. So I’ve been listening to KNP at work ( w/ earbuds LOL ) starting at the first episode, and I finally got to episode 52 today. is the special guest and it’s probably my favorite episode. But today I had a new perspective. Listening to You and Levon go back and forth about the Arch Nemesis, and how that knife made you feel when you first got to handle it just hit different knowing that your wife just got you one for your anniversary. You are truly a gift to the knife community my guy, and your wife as well for giving you what very well may be EXCALIBUR. It’s been almost a week and I’m still just so happy for you man. Your enthusiasm is infectious, and unrivaled in the realm of knife reviews on YT. That’s why I haven’t missed a video ever since I discovered your channel about 5 or 6 months ago (admittedly I forget to hit the like button all the time) but this is the only channel I follow so religiously. Keep up all the amazing content, and I’ll keep watching every single day. (Also, if anyone reads this and hasn’t done so already, check out Knife Nuts Podcast, it’s awesome ) I came for the sweet knafs, but I stayed for . For a guy who doesn’t have any friends interested in knives, I feel like I found one in you through your videos ( in a totally non creepy way ) SWORDS UP!

I just got over dropping 1200 on deadlock model c which btw is growing on me faster than the COVID cases (too soon?) among the unvaccinated pop because while it may not be a looker at the first sight, the build, the tech, the ergonomics, the action, and the overall ingenuity of it (and model c while cheaper than its predecessors is much better in every single aspect except lockup where it’s the same) make it much more attractive. Kind of when you first meet a girl at a party that’s not ugly but definitely not your first choice and the only reason you’re talking to her is because the first 4 made it clear that they are not interested, months or years down the line you think to yourself how much better she looks as a total package once you really get to know her sense of humor and overall personality. Well it’s kind of similar with deadlock model c. I have thus far had it for about 24 hours and every other aspect of it which is near perfection has now enhanced the mere look of the knife from a 6(10) to an 8(10) and while it may never look like the marfione custom combat troodon recurve or hellhound mirror finish or a harkins triton, you certainly don’t feel that you have maxed out appraising its pure appearance yet. But jokes aside - if any of you guys can, you should get deadlock model c and no I don’t have any affiliation with any knife website or hawk family - just keeping it real because outside of subjective looks (which includes the placement of the fire switch), this knife has as many flaws as it does blade play, which is absolutely zero…

Just purchased a utx-70 in OD green and a bronze apocalyptic blade. Super happy with it. I tend to like small knives more than big chunky ones.

Man that's weird. You say that the bigger OTF'S from Microtech fire harder than the smaller ones, but in my case it's the absolute opposite. My Dirac fires so hard it's scary, compare that to my Combat Troodon and it's not even close.

I think it depends on the blade and possible inconsistent springs (unlikely but possible). My two ultratechs fire differently (one dagger with half g10 frame, one tanto with full aluminum frame). My two combat Troodons both feel different too (one dagger, the other being the Bounty Hunter Hellhound). The daggers both fire out faster and more forcefully in my examples, I assume mostly due to the blade weight and shape.

I know there is something for everyone and I admit to having never handled this type of knife; with that said, I just don't see the appeal especially at this price point.

Get your hands on one and fire it, theyre addictive! Might not be for you though. There are some cheap but decent OTFs available if youre curious about the type and dont want to commit to something expensive. Lightning Elites, etc.

I own the Benchmade auto, but not any OTF's. They seems to wigglie for me? But I did buy three Micro Tech's back in 2002, and gave then to three Army soldiers just before they left for the war.

Question for everyone for my first edc otf would you guy recommend the Hera, heretic manticore E or the guardian tactical. price isn’t really a factor I just want to be happy with my first otf and not feel like I should have gotten one over the other thank you

The funny thing is that you would find the Hera under combat troodon on most sites. Here’s an interesting fact: my gf is not a knife person. After handling and firing the Hera for a few minutes she said: “if I think of a premium USA made Otf auto that’s worth as much as any (non-custom) knife in this category, I would want it to look and feel like this.” To me that’s saying something. She definitely is no dummy when it comes to evaluating quality whether it’s a knife or a pair of Italian designer jeans but for someone who is not a knife expert or even a connoisseur of any kind, I do find it interesting that of all the knives I have (roughly 100 microtechs including some very high end signature series that cost nearly $1000 similarly to this pre-production Hera - you reviewed SN100 I think I have SN071) she chose the Hera to make that kind of statement and she has at least seen if not handled, if not all, then at least most of my OTF’s. In fact, I recently gifted her an MT Sith Lord that was recently re-released and while she loved “my thoughtfulness” (and completely had no idea why in the world I would gift her a D/E OTF of all the things I could have gotten her for about $350 considering she is actually somewhat scared of dagger style blades), she still did not use the same language to describe this SL UT (ha! Sith Lord Ultratech if written in that manner is a SLUT!) as she did when she randomly grabbed the Hera and fired it a few times. She found that particular knife to be the only one that she described as premium and what she would think of a high quality USA made OTF if I ever did really ask for her opinion. (JK i actually do ask for her opinion on many things including knives and value it a lot). Just to make this long story short and to put it all in perspective her absolute favorite OTF that I own (she hasn’t seen deadlock model C yet because she will know I just dropped major loot on another knife and I would prefer to break it in to her over a slightly longer haul) is actually Heretic Manticore X Recurve (two-tone if I am being specific). Food for thought?

I bought the Hera on accident 😂. I thought it was a CT under the glass case. It’s the Frag design and looked bigger under the glass. I just told them I wanted this one, he threw it in the box and out the door I went. 120 miles down the road later, I was wondering why it’s so small. I have an obsession with Combat Troodans. I really like the Hera, the action feels so smooth compared to all my CT’s and UT’s. I bought all of them recently, the oldest I have is a CT from 10-2022. The Hera is the most refined. Love all of them though.

I’ve had a few and traded them all away . They just aren’t worth it for me . I like it for a few days then I just get annoyed with the whole idea of them . Sure the look ok , but they are about as useless as it comes . You can find much better quality , faster deployment, harder deployment. You are buying into a brand or a look . If that’s your thing , that’s great , after 2 I can’t do it again .

Paid 500 for mine upgraded from a cobra tech my cobra tech started to miss fire... And took it apart to clean it and lubed it and it still miss fires but not as much but I hurd these out last my other knives and I figured go all the way out and test to see if this knives out last my other one and I hurd if you open your microtech you void the warranty
