The clones are cool if you just want something to fidget with and open mail or something. But they don't really hold up to actual work. The real ones have a bit of blade play and the slider wobbles a little bit but they lock open really well and the blades are always really good steel.

The clones aren't great but they're still pretty good. With microtech you're basically playing the freedom tax aka labor cost since China couldn't care less about paying their employees. The tolerances aren't great and you're obviously taking a hit in materials but they still function pretty well. Just don't go trying to cut tires in half with the Chinese ones since they aren't built as sturdy but for normal edc use they are actually a suitable alternative if you can get past the slave labor and copyright infringement.

Emerald Lx that’s the main reason I haven’t sent anything in for a spa day... they told me it would take up to 90 days for them to return 4 knives but then I learned that older knives have to be sent to their veteran techs which further extends that return period...
