I just got a 5/23 utx-85. I hear a spring sound when pushing forward. I’m not concerned. The quality, fit & function are excellent. Springs make there own sounds.

put some grease under the slide button spring, one of the springs is rubbing causing the spring to vibrate and make the sound

Tried grease, still does it but not as bad!

A little rem oil might fix you up on the sound.

Yeah I’ll have to try that, there’s plenty of grease so I would think that would be fine but in any case it’s not really a big deal… should break it I figure

I think microtech after 2019 quality changed I have 2017-2023 difference in blade play and fit and finish in my opinion. Just saying

Yeah I have an UltraTech from 2013 and honestly I don’t see much of a difference in quality other than the newer ones I have open and close easier. As far as blade play goes they seem similar to me. Maybe there is a way I can measure it between the two with a micrometer or similar tool.

@@jessephoenix9018 I have 3 combat troodons and four ultratechs from 2018,cyper mark 7 from 2018 and some from 2019 and 2021 all the same pretty good. Then have 2 ultratech from 2023 both rattle one the blade dropped out in my pocket without hitting switch. Both have horrible blade play neither one was sharp when I got them. The two from 2023 are nothing like the ones from the previous years in quality. Just my experience with microtech

Interesting, I have a 2013 UltraTech and a 2021 UltraTech and I just measured the blade play with a machinists ruler and it looks and sounds like the 2021 has a tighter fit… but then again the older one has had more use. But in any case I appreciate your comment and input. It’s good to know that you’ve experienced a decrease in quality.
