My only gripe now that I own it is that the money clip itself does not exert very much pressure against the body of the knife so I have to keep a rubber band wrapped around the body of the exocet/credit cards/cash in order to keep it from very easily sliding out. That being said - The knife action is fantastic when compared to my ultratech, the blade is thin but sharp, the quality of the aluminum is fantastic.

my microtechs will do that too, it's a safety mechanism in case the knife goes off in your pocket for whatever reason. buy an original though, get the real deal ;-)

My Exocet is defective fresh out of the box. Having issues retracting the blade and actuating switch doesn’t feel right. Didn’t even make it to a torture test.

Mmm. Ok so i just bopped my 2018 socom handle with handle of a screwdriver, like you did using a hammer. It failed. Older socom. Failed. My new one also tipped after not hard use at work. Love them, hell have more than i would like to admit to and feeling pretty silly about now.

How’s the thickness of the blade on the tanto? Strong compared to a utx85?

Hopefully no one needs to warranty their knife in 12 years or so. I have a 2008 Ultratech, I called asking about paying them to replace the blade and broken main spring. They won't do it because it's too told. So apparently "lifetime" really means "until we change the geometry" or "until we decide it's too old". I distinctly buying a product with a lifetime warranty. I have other Microtechs that old and older that are still operating, so they're still within their lifetime. I've spent thousands on Microtech products and was about to spend more. However, I will NEVER purchase another one of their products again after the girl I talked to told said they can't help me.

No I won’t actually. I’ve already purchased OTFs from other manufacturers and found that not only are they cheaper the have a much easier action to operate. I’ll never buy another Microtech again, which is saying something because I have a bunch.

I've recently been reading up on the company myself, this Midwest native American dude Ray, seems to be thier KZbin behind the scenes head of marketing, and I've heard/read some stuff on mr. Marfione himself, his son leaving Microtech and starting Heretic etc. for reasons unknown but there must be some bad blood, plus most of the pocket check videos, all the people that work there have seemed to only been there for "weeks" not years...somethings off, I do love the Brand, but I think they might be on a downslope 🤷‍♂️ but who am I to say right?? "Knaahhves"

You also could have tested the spring, that is opening the knife against a hard object.

It wouldn't do anything. An otf isn't designed to pierce things with the spring power, even as little as opening it into a piece of printer paper is enough to stop the blade. It's not a design flaw and it's actually sort of a safety feature or else it could go off into your pocket and into your leg. You'll find the same results from the cheapest Chinese otf all the way though benchmade, hogue, GT, microtech and even a G+G Deadlock
