Interesting for sure....but as far as Microtech knives go, I don't want any coated m390 when the apocalyptic finish is an option!

I’ve got my 1st Signature series Microtech Combat Troodon Urban Camo for a present. It is brilliant on the pocket. Waiting for congratulations) Have a question about sharpening it: Which angle is better for it to sharpen? Merry Christmas and happy new year. Respect from Ukraine!

I think if you bought it from alibaba orany 8f the China based online marketplace , you for sure will get a fake. If you buught it at a gun show for less than retail price it's most likely a fake. But if you paid full price for a fake , you should have acquainted yourself)f before buying is all I can say.

Always look to see if the dealer that you’re buying from is an authorized microtech dealer or distributor. If one is gonna complain over $50-$75 difference in price especially buying a microtech at 300+ dollars, then you don’t need to be owning that knife. I’ve always been taught my entire life if you can’t afford it you don’t need to buy it and if you do buy it, you better be able to maintenance it.

My real ZBT ultratech needs tuning after about <50 uses. Now it has bladeplay. And we're just talking merely opening/closing while bored watching tv, not batonning firewood. 🤷🏻♂️ At some point authenticity and quality part company. I bet even some Hawk knockoffs have zero bladeplay by now. Good thing microtech "made this user tunable" because i'll need to open it in its first week of ownership to do just that. 😡 Maybe Tony has a line of Marfione DLC carbon fiber grip Torx drivers he's going to unveil at ScrewdriverShow 2025? I look up to Tony and crew, I think their products are compelling. It stings all the more.

What’s an even bigger shame is to spend your good hard earned money and buy a legit microtech and it needs sent in because the QC missed it working properly or having an uneven edge.
@-joe-davidsonКүн бұрын
No, it's a bigger shame to end up with a fake. Microtech can fix an issue on a genuine product. Anything can slip through the QC process. Cars, appliances, and even knives.

This is true, they sell fake Casio F-91W watches on the internet. You can get a real one at Wal Mart for around $17. My Microtech was bought at Smokey Mountain Knife Works so I don’t have any reason to believe mine is a fake.

Oil can sometimes make it worse since the liquid can interfere with the slide mechanism. Use a dry lubricant like BIRCHWOOD CASEY Moly Lube Dry Film Lubricant.

I love Microtech - I own 20, I also own a few Chris Reeve and a few Hinderer and I used to own Shiro but have sworn off non USA knives. The Microtech community has a subset of angry haters (probably 5% lol), that bitch and moan and whine about steel hardness, anodizing, quality (one wing nut says every Microtech he buys is defective which is beyond stupid)… Microtech is a phenomenal company with a phenomenal warranty, they have delivered some Type III, they have delivered Ti pocket clips with silicon carbide balls, they have delivered dual fuel, they have delivered ZBT, they have redesigned most of the glass breakers to be housed in titanium lower profile designs that feature an integrated lanyard and screw design, torx, the blade grinding is unmatched, and the prices have barely changed. I can concede the point that Microtech is not Alchemy or Cabot or Wilson with respect to touchy feely customer service but damn - I would rather have these continuous upgrades in the core products and can live with low shirt selection. It’s perspective - so to the 5% haters I say - no one cares or listens to you and to Microtech, I say keep delivering these amazing products and keep selling every knife you make because you deserve your incredible success

What an amazing video. I have some knife builds I'd like to do this year, with a K390 Para 3, and a Rex 45 Manix 2. What I'm hoping to do is get a low grade mirror polish on the blades, then get them DLC coated, then possibly have the text and logos lasered back on them. I'm not sure what the Rex is hardened to, but I think Spyderco hardens K390 to around 65 HRC. Polishing them is gonna be a bitch. Then I need to find someone to DLC coat them. Did a test run with one provider on a $45 Petrified Fish Victor, and wasn't super happy with the results, so need to find someone that can do an incredible DLC job for me. One thing I learned from Mr Marfionne is to consider only sharpening one side of the bevel after.
@nfitzsim5 күн бұрын
Be sure to ask the supplier their application temperature to make sure it doesn’t mess up the temper of the blade. Rex 45 will be fine since it’s high temper. K390 I don’t remember off hand what the tempering temp is but you need to double check. Some DLC is applied above 500F which could wreck the temper.
