Just fixed my GE microwave using your utube. Used a 4-40 1X 1.4 machine screw and nut to reattach the post works like new now . Microwave under a year old GE said go buy a new one and they will reimburse the cost so now I have a spare

Thanks for this video. It was a big help. At 5:49, instead of prying with screw driver, all you have to do is pull the cover straight out from the back and it slides off from the front lip. Also, I found the broken stem and drilled the hole slightly bigger and attached that and the latch back on with a #8 machine screw. Hopefully, that will be stronger than the plastic stem. Thanks again!

You don't have to buy a new part. Just slide a 4-40 1&1/4" machine screw through the broken off hollow pin, put a nut on the other end, and fixed! But if you do buy another part and don't want it to break like the original did, then put the 4-40 1&1/4 screw with nut through the hollow pin on the new part so it won't break in the future. The key to fixing this problem forever is the machine screw through the hollow pin to strengthen its connection to the rest of the part.

Exactly, the new part has the same flaw. That plastic post is way too weak against being pushed on repeatedly. A metal screw will totally solve this problem.

I did the same on mine, but broke that stationary retainer clip that holds in that rocker piece. Fixed it with a small washer. - also, for good measure, I put a dab of gel super glue on the broken shaft just for a little extra security. Also a dab on the back of the nut as well.

Thanks for the help. A couple things I'll add, rather than 'prying' off the shell, it just needs to push back once the screws are removed. Also, I was able to use some appropriately sized tubing and a screw from the back side of the plate to replace the broken shaft and avoid having to replace the whole switch plate.

I have the same microwave and it just broke on me. Thank you for your video! I just fixed it the cheap way. I used a wood screw, I don't know the size, and it was perfect. I hand screwed the screw from the board side into the, broken off, hollow post. It worked! The post actually feels strong. I even think it's stronger than the original, I gave it some extra shearing strength. That's what broke the post in the first place.

This worked for my Monogram ZEB1227SL1SS. I used the #4 screw and nut that someone suggested. Hope this solves this issue for a long time!
