Because it heats up so fast it can explode easier if there is any dampness. I had been watching a lot of these and they pre-heat the pottery in the oven or use the pre-heated kiln to heat it up for awhile before firing. Someone else I watched said that even if it was humid or a bit rainy the night before the clay will take in a bit of moisture so to make sure you pre-heat them to be 100% sure there is not a single bit of moisture in them.

Вы правы, надо не менее 30 минут в печи. Я тоже недавно купила такую печь, и пробую в ней запекать стекло. Fusing. Мне понадобилось 3 нагрева по 9 минут, чтобы отверстие в крышке начало светиться, что означает высокую температуру внутри. Слышала еще, что маленькая печь нагревается быстрее. Спасибо, что поделились опытом

Thank you for your comment and for sharing your experience! Small kilns do heat up faster, and finding the right settings is always an interesting process. Glad we can exchange ideas! 😊

@Mariana-Salem , да, у меня большая печь, она дольше греется. Хотя, были случаи, что за 10 минут нагрелось до full fuse.

@@diolaaloid5517 That’s interesting! I’m getting a proper kiln soon, so I’ll probably use my current setup only for testing or raku. I also have a large one too.

Maybe youre using a higher cone/temperature of glaze than the other tutorials were doing :) I know a lot of people use low fire glazes which is not much hotter than bisque to melt, but maybe yours is mid or high fire
@Mariana-Salem14 күн бұрын
You're totally right! 😊 When I bought these glazes, the temperature info on the website actually didn’t match what was on the packaging, which caused some confusion. These turned out to be mid-fire glazes, so they need a higher temp to melt properly compared to low-fire glazes. Thanks for pointing that out! 🙌

@@DunoonVanRijn-dx1hr It's very important to make sure that your pieces are very very dry. I use my bathroom as my studio, and all the pieces that explode were stored there. Someone mentioned in the comments to dry the pieces in the oven first which I tried and it actually works.
