Since you have it under vacuum, you don't need to have the door at the front be locked tight. If you allow it to be sealed with a silicone gasket or something when it's at negative pressure, then you'll minimise the chance of an explosion if there's a leak since the door will just blow off from the positive pressure. I have to say, a few months ago when I saw it for the first time, I highly doubt it was gonna work. It just didn't seem like it would be sustainable, but since your video about running it off it's own natural gas vapours, I think you might just have a shot. Also, the reason why you have oil collecting at the recovery pump might be because the condensing pipe diameter is too wide, so even though the walls are cool, the majority of the vapours can still travel through without being condensed. You might want to look into having a smaller diameter condenser column with spiral pipes like the small scale pyrex ones.

Can you put it on a trailer and make it run self contained? I've had this idea about cleaning up rural american yard with a gasification generator. You sit have the cleanest looking unit I've seen. My hope is that the self contained trailer could be rented maybe tied to the energy grid for credits or w/e. The home owner can shred stuff, burn stuff then get good by products like the carbon and energy from a on board running a generator. Maybe even on the trailer has holding tanks for each resource and the business can deduct money from their bill if they decide to not use the fuel or carbon by weight of course lol. Win win for everyone. I know America is full of littered front and back yards all just waiting to be bought up because why else is the home owner hoarding stuff that stuff? They'll have to pay for it to be removed some how why not possibly get something from it like energy or gardening fill? I love your ideas man. Keep at it!

Interesting project! Maybe you can "open" the front lid while under vacuum, so it pops open in case of leak? The vacuum should hold it in place, no? That would however mean you can't use the nitrogen ofc. Or you could add some one way valves maybe.
@georgwagner44388 ай бұрын
Awesome stuff! I think its time for some software on a raspberry pi or w/e to automate and monitor some stuff. Maybe some oxygen sensors exist that can resist the harsh conditions in that machine? That would be awesome for an emergency fail-safe. (With automated valves for the nitrogen and so on..)

What gasket material are you using for your TC fittings? EPDM caps out at about 150C, so if you're using the black rubber gaskets you might take a look at PTFE options. I worry about the seal material in the butterfly valves and sight glasses, too. Temperature and chemical resistance could be an issue. Amazing work and stay safe!

I would be interested to see some energy calculations. Is it worth it? Can you get more energy in the form of oils in comparison to the amount of energy consumed on heating and pumping?
@steffankaizer8 ай бұрын
just from the size of flame he should be able to run a generator from the "syngas" alone to power almost everything except all of the magnetrons at the same time. you can look up the energy consumption of all his equipment if you really have the determination. then find a generator with that energy output and see if someone is running it on woodgas or propane. if the size of flame is the same it should be possible. keep in mind this isnt over unity, the power comes out of the plastic waste of which there is a virtually infinite amount.
@SSLDick8 ай бұрын
I believe the system creates natural gas as a byproduct. With that, maybe he would be able to run a generator large enough to power the system. Especially if he outfits a generator with the new thunderstorm setup. I could be wrong as this is only the first of his videos that I've watched.

@Bikeconstructeur8 ай бұрын
I feel like this is at the point where it needs central computer control. I don't know what I would trust for it, probably not an arduino, but it doesn't have to be complicated. As the system is under vacuum, I wonder if it would increase the safety to have that end access door kept closed with some weak bolts. That way if you had a gasket fail, and the pressure reverses, the bolts will fail before the whole chamber does. Just a thought, maybe I'm not seeing the whole picture..

But the thing is that: is he winning any fuel? like what electricty he is spending to transform the plastic into fuel don't forget that electricity comes indirectly from fuel So if he is theoreticaly creating =>1L of plastic fuel but he is spending let's say 5L so he is not really creating any fuel sure the plastic is used but what is he winning. It's a really interesting thing to think to scale this project to large scale. But keep up the good work 👍👍👍

I am interested to know about scalability. 1. How much Plastic trash does it take to make a barrel of crude oil? 1a. How many pounds of propane gas And burnable carbon will it make At the same time? 2. How long will it take? 3. How much energy will the reactor use Per barrel? We already incinerate, old clothing. We already waste water and pollute Waterways with fast fashion clothing development. We already have huge refinery plants. Pointing blame at plastic reprocessing It’s not helpful. Learning the scalability and feasibility is.

have you considered how much energy you are spending to refine waste into oil? because a lot of tech has been abandoned because we dont have free energy. If recycling the plastic into fuel causes more pollution than the plastic, then its not really.. something we can benefit from until energy is free.
